I think they most probably can tbh. Teams just sit deep against now and watch us ping the ball around without much of an end product. The manager really does need to adapt to this new reality and to counter it. He needs to be backed this January and perhaps a rethink of the current formula.

Get a grip ffs. This is the championship and teams drop points. Disappointing but hardly a crisis. Under Bielsa we won 7 in a row and then had something like 1 win in 7 matches. We then won 5 in a row. It is very easy for a team to have mini wobbles and for all we know there could be a bit of a flu bug going round the team and last week most players were only at arond 70% fitness wise, no point saying make changes if the changes are at 70% too. We could very easily go on another winning run but beign the championship could easily go four or five without a win.
I think that is why they only award promotion at the end of the season. Teams have their ups and downs and at the end of the season the best teams finish highest. Not the team that won 5 in a month.

Do you think DF is someone we can build with long term?

Re: Anyone else losing the faith
It's a hard one to judge. Certainly if he gets us up he deserves a crack at it. I don't see anything in his cv that would sway me either way. His time in the prem with Norwich wasn't good but his board showed zero ambition - selling Buendia at the start of his 2nd season in the prem a fine example of that. It is easy to say another manager might have got more out of the dross but there is no real evidence of that and Dean Smith did awful with them. As such he did poorly but wasn't really given much chance to do any better than that. His time in Germany is neither here nor there. It seemed he didn't do particuarly well but wasn't a disaster either so it is hard to judge without really delving far deeper into his time there. So for me if he gets us up, even via the play-offs he will have done an excellent job and deserve a decent chance to show what he can do in the prem.
He needs to be backed and to have the final say on the first team players. If he is given a fair chance then we will see how he does - personally I feel he could do well. I think it is greatly underestimated how important it is to build a happy squad. If you have happy players that believe in you then you have got a much better chance of them fighting for each other and finding results. Contrast that to our side last year which seemed to me to be full of divisions, the Bielsa players, the Marsch players, the Orta punts, possibly the americans etc. So far Farke has shown that he can unite a dressing room. He has shown he can get under performing players playing better, he has shown he can improve players and has shown a decent eye in the transfer market. Tactics may be an issue in a higher division but equally playing this way may well be enough to ensure we get enough wins to stay up even if we may sometimes suffer beatings when it goes wrong against the better sides (sounds a bit familar). So I think he can do weill, how well depends on the players he has. Pep's tactics wouldn't work with inferior players, Klopp's wouldn't either.

...At least until the world stops going round. Or we drop a few points in the Championship. If you're going to be that fickle you should be a Man United fan, ffs.
We might still be promoted. If we don't make autos, there's a one-in-four chance we'll get up anyway, unless the wheels come off completely. After a summer disaster we're third and scaring most sides we come up against.
And besides, I'm enjoying playing in a competitive league - the last two seasons in the Premiership were crap. We've dropped a few points. we'll drop some more no doubt. But losing the faith? Bollocks.

Who do we give the credit to for Jimmy's sparkly new beginning, i don't recall any other manager using him ?
Big Sam's discovery i think.
Some seem to think young Archie has suddenly become the best thing since sliced (he's not btw) - Who gave him a chance before he starts shaving ?
Was that that Gracia or Garcia or whatever his name is bloke ?
He's still got a lot of work to do and build DF, a bit harsh to be judging him and his quarter of a team innit

Not losing faith yet. Just think Farke can be a little more successful against the low block with a little self-reflection re: rotating a couple players (Piroe probably not suited for defeating the low block, for example), along with earlier substitutions if the plan isn’t working. He does have a great eye for talent, though (jury still out on Gruev, but a few encouraging signs there). I’d be curious to see what he can unearth for transfers in January to strengthen the squad. He is underrated in his ability to unify a locker room and so my hat’s off to him there.
Here’s hoping we can stay afloat until January where another infusion can help propel us further. MOT…

have you watched the last 2 games, we were dreadful. DF and the board are not even indicating we need new players in Jan 24 thats why i and many on here are losing the faith. We have been playing our best 11 yet look clueless at times.GreennWhite wrote: ↑Sun Dec 17, 2023 12:29 pm Christ Almighty, half way through the season, sitting in third place, after having a horrible start to the league with trying to build a new squad, plus the 2 teams above us who are having an amazing run of form, and someone asks if we are loosing the faith. I would rather lose gracefully than win ugly. Appreciate that's probably just me. The thought of winning one nil and playing like Coventry every week would probably see me take up knitting. Altho it has to be said that i would have Dyche down as that type of manager but he's got Everton playing like Brazil.

pjm2019 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 17, 2023 10:46 am Another bad result yesterday. We may be 3rd in the league at the moment but fed up with DF plan A: Play the same 11 each week, playing players in the wrong position and bringing on subs far too late. IF DF and the board know what their doing we need a number of quality players to be brought in on the 1st Jan. This current squad is clearly not good enough for a top 2 finish and if we do nothing in early in the Jan transfer window a top 6 looks difficult
I think you are way off in your estimation about top 6.
You are sounding like we are getting beaten week in week out, once DF got his team playing his way they have been on 2 points a game which is what you want to see.
The fact that Ipswich and Leciester are having outlier seasons is not something we can do much about.
We have a couple of squad issues but that can be ironed out.
The changes in the personell I partly agree with, although IF Gray doesnt play oon the right then he doesnt start ahead of Kamara or Ampadu who are holding our midfield together very well. Gray is good but he isnt their level yet imo. Howeve rbeing more box to box he carries a goal threat which I do feel we could so with.
It all goes back to the LB position, but when fit Byram starts ahead of most left backs in the league. Signing of the season imo.
That is an area the club will need to be resourceful in the window. Perhaps a loan from a PL side..
Wether the subs come on too late is borne out of frustration from when we have been up against the deep defensive nature of the opposition, like we have seen on so many occasions, but throwing on players may seem like the answer but that is conjecture. It might but we conceded after bringing on players lately.
Re rotation I again sort of agree, but can we really drop any of our top 4 when they all have goals and assists every three games?
In the midfield we have the option of Gruev but take my word for it if you like he is a very average footballer who will be used if there are injuries, that leaves Shacks (who is rarely fit) and Gyabi who Citeh stroked us for when we sold them KP.
DF seems to have binned Ayling, which imo is premature but it all goes back to the problem on the left..
In summary I havent lost faith, but after the summer we had my expectations were playoffs.
Keep yer chim up, at least we arent getting rolled every week and are unbeaten at home all season.
