You are spot on Mental, Firpo didn't win one single header
There were good things about his game though.
3 blocks, 2 tackles, the cross for Bamford's goal & couple of decent passes, one he set-up for Paddy who scuffed his shot, plus three overlap runs.
You make it sound as though I should be pleased with a footballer doing the basics , he has an awful lot of effort and work to put in before I'll rate him, a full backs job is primarily to defend.
Personally I think he's a gimp.

Indeed. Firpo should have had another assist but Summerville skied his shot after Firpo's pass. Firpo winning back possession in the build up for Summerville's goal. A lot of good things from an attacking sense.

The trouble is it isn't if you have a team that is dominant. For us against the 'lesser' teams it is more important that he gets forward, create overlaps, draws defenders out of position and puts crosses in etc. Obviously if we get promoted (or matches against the better championship sides) then the situation may well need to be re-assessed as we will have to defend more.

I thought he was a complete waste of space but the last few games he has shown quite a lot of good stuff as an attacking threat. He's still a s**t defender.

I’m not a big fan of the player himself, but his new song is pretty good.
Why we can’t come up with a few verses without swear words though, I’m not sure.
I find it highly embarrassing to sing about a s**t player, the fans know this and are simply extracting the urine, shows how easy it was a gainst rotherham, the fans were bored and had time to make a song up about our worst player in years.

First time I heard the song was at Bristol City & it continued at Plymouth.

I know Firpo gives us something different as a LWB.
But why is it, he makes more errors than any other player in our team?
He has done ok this season going forwards, however his crosses from the by line when he is often able to make a cross on his preferred foot in decent space have been largely poor for me and often predictable. The one cross which I would term quality was for the Dan James header. The Rotherham game cross leading to Bamford elbow gate was pure luck. It was cut out because it was telegraphed. At least on a positive he does look up. However there was one cross last night which looked like a tame pass to their keeper from a great position. Albeit my footage picture was on the blink at the time.
I do not have a downer on him I just find the narratives of either woefullness or effusive praise equally incorrect. He is decent going forwards for me and nothing more. I know he is a certain Faaiporite who can do no wrong but if we go up and he is here next season I will be astounded.

You are correct.
Apart from that poor cross, there were two occasions when he lost possession & also a poor pass that caught us on the back foot with Ampadu twice baling him out of trouble.
Also our defenders in general struggle to block or cut-out crosses, three times Firpo dangled a leg with no conviction, allowing crosses into our box with relative ease, thankfully the crosses were poor. Gray (twice) Gruev, Gnonto & Summerville were all guilty of similar situations with no challenge & the ball is delivered into our box,

What also grinds with me is the suggestion he is playing LWB - he isn’t he is playing LB like Archie is playing RB. The difference is he has a license to get forward a lot more because Kamara and of Late Amps do the lions share of his defending.
Archie does not have the same license to get forward as he is playing the fullback role properly and has to force his opposition back by sheer talent and determination.
The fact Firpo gets stupid marks by some people for the odd overlap and speculative cross is bizarre. He does some good stuff and I like his contribution defending the set piece ~ but he doesn’t really have that much he can get wrong in comparison to the players carrying the majority of the defensive responsibility.

I think Farke is comfortable with one fullback bombing forward whilst the other holds more of a defensive position. Early int he season it was Ayling being allowed to roam whilst Byram, at left back, played the defensive full back.We saw again with Djed Spence, briefly, and now Firpo that one side is allowed to roam. I think we do it like that so that if the move breaks down we still can have a back four with our defensive mid slotting into the CB position allowing one centreback to push wide to cover.
I think when we had Byram and Gray together we were more conservative, as it is likely more natural to them but perhaps this made it harder to break low blocks etc.
