Better set up than us for this game. We seem to be wasting our wingers right now, they are either playing too narrow or wanting to bring it infield themselves, meaning the Soton back lines is very comfortable closing the space down.

Was a comedy of errors tbh. But if Ampadu is doing that he has to get the ball. Didn’t look convincing at allWhite Riot wrote: ↑Sun May 26, 2024 2:59 pm It reminded me of us under Bielsa in the Prem when the opposition forwards would get our CBs to track them to midfield and then just chip it over them for the cavalry charge.
They all sussed that one out.
Re: Leeds United v Southampton - Match Thread
To lose to such a poor goal will be hard to take. Unfortunately I can't see us getting back, midfield has been so poor, and they have too much experience for us.
Re: Leeds United v Southampton - Match Thread
Is it nerves?
Re: Leeds United v Southampton - Match Thread
Agree with the passing to standing feet, Kamara is involved at least but his passes are slow and not ahead of the playerOrange Box wrote: ↑Sun May 26, 2024 2:54 pm Midfield the issue for me. They are moving their forwards into running space whereas we are trying to push it to standing feet, and they have it covered. Needs to see how DF reacts to this. At the minute we are second best .
Re: Leeds United v Southampton - Match Thread
He isn't a cb.
He's on record for wanting to play dm so asking him to defend against good players is asking too much.
He's fine on the ball but when you watch him defensively at cb you can see his issues.

I agree, we need to be quicker in our transitional play. The other thing we need to do is bloody well have a dig from the edge of the box, yiou dont shoot you dont scoreOrange Box wrote: ↑Sun May 26, 2024 3:01 pm Better set up than us for this game. It was a scripted goal that we totally fell for. Done like a kipper on that one

Ampadu error, can't leave that kind of space behind. Firpo was tracking two players so he couldn't cover..

Re: Leeds United v Southampton - Match Thread
This is exactly why so many of us on here were saying for months before today - we had to avoid the playoffs at all costs.
There were so, so, so many games we could have won to give us those two wins we needed to be second.
Now look at us. All s**tting our pants at Wembley, when it never needed to happen.
SOOOO FRUSTRATING!

Yes. AgreedThe Subhuman wrote: ↑Sun May 26, 2024 3:00 pm Give it till 60, then a rethink is needed, earlier if they get the next one... Summerville and Gnoto need to switch at times, lets get Firpo in behind the defence. We've passed on that a few times in the first half with Cry turning back.
All feels very scripted so far...

Re: Leeds United v Southampton - Match Thread
what's all this about the spectacular Wembley atmosphere.. . I think it has been all rather quiet from both sides
Re: Leeds United v Southampton - Match Thread
As someone mentioned as soon as we have possession in their half the adopt three at the back mark GEO and their FB’s get tight on Summerville and Gnonto. We move the ball too slow and do not have anyone breaking from midfield to offer anything different. To get back in the game we need a quick precise counter or a piece of individual brilliance.

Could easily be 2 down barring the Mes save so not giving up. Yet.
Re: Leeds United v Southampton - Match Thread
Ok for the first 10/15mins then poor after that. The goal knocked the stuffing out of us for sure. We can't cope with Armstrong's movement. For their goal he just drifted into that little pocket waiting and knowing someone will find him. How can we give their danger man so much space?
What was Archie doing on that breakaway 4 on 2? The saints look the more menacing and looked the more likely to add another goal. I honestly can't tell you what we should do to get back into it. Its the usual story of a team dropping to 2 banks of four when we are dallying around with it at the back. Our midfield drops too deep to have a real influence in attack. If we don't go out wide we don't go anywhere and Martin knows this.
We have James with Pace, maybe Anthony but that will all still be out wide. We have no midfield goal scoring general to drive us up the field. We will have to gamble at some stage.
But a goal will change everything. Lets hope its for us.
Come on Leeds.

Yeah the wheels fell off the auto spot due to being headless, same happening today.Morpheus wrote: ↑Sun May 26, 2024 3:04 pm This is exactly why so many of us on here were saying for months before today - we had to avoid the playoffs at all costs.

Pointless swapping wingers and playing exactly the same way. We'd need a Gelhardt who can offer something from the middle.
