Daniel Farke post playoff defeat

Post by Cjay »

Farke's here - how hurtful is that?

As you can imagine, it could not be worse. Suffering a lot in this moment. Deeply disappointed because once you come so close with 90 points, great two legs against Norwich. Today, we were not the worst side in this final and it hurts a lot. Do not want to miss congratulations to Southampton. Defended really well. Had their one chance and were clinical in this moment. Only stat that matters is the goals.

We had more possession, xG, chances and shots. Southampton defended really well and were clinical. All the best in the Premier League to them. Hurts so much when you are this close

Players not turning up?

No, when you don't score offensive players will always be looked at. Decisions were not top class in the final third. Created so many good openings, but were not precise or tidy enough with the final pass or finish. When you see how young my attackers are, Armstrong knows this league, has one chance and gets that opening to finish. That was the difference. Not the day to criticise my attackers because when you see the second half, Rodon, if he passes to Piroe, he rolls in. James hits the bar. One of those days and not meant to be. They were more effective than we were.

Can you see the determination to put this right?

After losing a final, you just are keen to go away and it's too early to have upbeat messages. Everyone suffers. Many tears on the pitch and in the dressing room. Bigger picture: 90 points, way we played, there's no reason to dwell on it. Take these experiences as extra motivation. Fans were second to none again. They deserved a day to enjoy this. We feel the pain and are deeply disappointed.

These lads have no reason to dwell on it. Difficult to come back stronger than 90 points, but perfect outcome to call yourself a PL side, we want to celebrate.

Reasure fans?

Not the day to give upbeat messages or what the situation will be in the summer. After a final, you have to allow yourself to be disapponted and then what will happen in the summer. I trust our key people. WRong time to give messages like this about going again.

Pain for next season?

Out of such a day, you sometimes learn more and take extra motivation. Have to make sure you are celebrating in the future.

Take more risks?

We changed our base formation twice and put all our attackers on. We took risks. If you play a final, it will never be going for it more and blowing the opponent out of the park. When they defend with 10 lads and the knife between the teeth it is hard.

You never create 10 clear-cut chances. They defended well and sat deep to hurt us. You need to use the small situations

I always find post match comments merely rhetoric... irrespective of success or failure. Nothing gets said
"Never debate an idiot, they'll only drag you down to their level and they have the advantage of experience"
