Been linked to St Pauli Centre Back Eric Smith

Recently won promotion to the Bundesliga with the St Pauli manager now linked to Brighton

Downside? Not exactly a stellar pedigree and no stranger to the physio room.

A risk undoubtedly to say the least
And more interestingly former Celtic winger Karamoko Dembélé.

Spent last season on loan in League 1 at Blackpool.

9 goals and 14 assists in all competitions.
Signed

Cooper will be a year slower, he'll end up running backwards.

Dembele was considered by many to be a star in the making when he was 14/15 in Celtics youth team. He absolutely bossed games including Barcelona’s youth academy when they played them in a competition.
I know he struggled to make the jump to the senior side at Celtic and struggled on his few appearances. First time I have heard his name in a long time, did not realise he went on loan to Blackpool. He looks exactly the same size as when he was 15.

But he wins with experience and understanding... He may want first team football elsewhere but he's a top 20 CB in the championship and more than good enough as cover

What a surprise Cooper being kept on  CC will be off then

Shame about Lewis Bate. He had a lovely passing range, but probably too small.

Pleased to see Shacks staying on. He's a good versatile option for the squad.

That list seems to suggest Cody Drameh is staying... that's a good surprise for me for he's the best RB at the club imo... but it is a surprise

Not really, Cresswell was cover for Joe who hardly missed a beat, Farke tried to shoehorn, Cooper and Struijk together IIRC when Rodon was suspended and that went really badly... But I think that was the only occasion.

This doesn't mean Cresswell won't be off, I don't have a crystal ball and you maybe guessing right but it won't be because Coop will sign another year

You need 2xRight Side and 2xLeft side ... We currently have one of both

Why would Cody Drameh care if we got a fee, as a FA he'd have his pick

Because even if he turns it down, we still get compensation fee. If we didn't offer anything, he'd leave for nothing. That's what happened with Charlie Taylor. We offered a new contract, even though we knew he'd reject, to enable us to get compensation.

It will be interesting to see if Drameh signs a new deal. I would be surprised, particularly as Luton have dropped back down. If I was in his position I would wait and see what offers are available, as it hasn’t worked out for him here.
SG is right in terms of the club trying to protect a financial interest by offering a new deal.

I fully get the loyalty, understanding & experienced reasons.

But, I did post at the beginning of last season, Coops wouldn't start ten games, he started eight.

My reason for questioning retaining Coops is, if he was our cover CB, why did Ampadu get the call for the final four months of 2024/25?

To be honest, I'd trust Ampadu ahead of Coops.

Ges texted me, his mate is a Brummie fan, who thinks Drameh is ok, but nothing special.

Pointless keeping these type of players if we are rarely going to use them.
