The main thing with Archie & Georgi was their likeability. I’d definitely turn on the tv to watch either but not so much Summerville. Probably why there was less angst at him leaving. The other 2 put bums on seats.

Why is everyone ignoring Rutter leaked the clause? He wanted to go.

Honestly I think that this has a few possibilities:

1. The club have been negotiating with Brighton in some way.... Youve made a 35 million offer, here's the release clause. That's all we'll take......

I don't agree with this as its so late in the window at a point when the fanbase is already pissed with the lack of incomings. Makes no sense other than in terms of purely financial. In football terms/immediate future of the club it doesn't make any sense at all and risks the future profits gained by promotion.... Also puts huge pressure on the owners to deliver or risk souring the fanbase in just two weeks.

2. Rutter has heard about the offer earlier and asked his agent to keep the lines of communication open since. The lack of investment and not looking as strong as last season has turned Rutgers head and opened him up more to a move. Agent tells Brighton his release clause on Rutters behalf and Brighton decide his potential is worth it.

This is a strong possibility, the more time he spends in the second tier and the older he gets the less attractive to top tier teams/leagues he'll be. Brighton are a good attacking prem club who have progressed/improved players in recent years. The club means nothing to players/players to clubs, they are assets. He is looking to progress his career in the same way as Summerville/Gray. This makes the most sense to me.

3. The only conceivable/justifiable reason is that we are totally strapped for cash beyond what we think and in order to bring in 3/4 new players we need the £40 million, ljubic/Chair/Clarke etc would potentially be available for this.

I dont know but options 2 or 3 seem the most likely purely on timing for me.

When Rutter goes I believe it will be the end of us going up this year UNLESS the 49ers invest a fair amount of money they have got back on Archie,crys,and Georgi .we need goalkeeper,midfield,and a striker that is going to score 20 goals cos last night was a shambles same old team from last year DF needs to get his arse in gear and earn his wages along with ALL the players can't blame Rutter going anybody would go all the best to him on his move .

100% agree - I think he genuinely cares in a different way than most and his creativity is nigh on irreplaceable.

Cress well is starting CB at this level, Greenwood would give us a lot off the bench at this level. Joffy can make things happen at prem level but he needs time not just 5 minutes off the bench. As I say we have12 starting quality left atm.

Press pre Boro was asking about Sam Chambers training with the first team. Maybe he's a future star. But right now he's only training with the 1st team because we're desperately short on numbers.

We have to dug desperately deep for an 11 v 11 training session.

Or how about all the fans who said he was useless and a complete waste of money ?

Getting £40 million is good business and we should be grateful for Brighton for coughing up that kind of dough.

Gutted about this one personally. I really enjoy the way he plays the game despite his flaws of giving the ball away cheaply. I thought we would lose one but not both of our creative sparks is laughable. Its a bit late now to start getting players in and getting them up to speed with tactics and the like.

Its back to a rebuilding job again for me rather than a promotion push. I hope i am wrong but we have not replaced Pablo since he left so i can't see us getting the right quality in a few weeks.

Pablo was 30 and a seasoned pro when he came to Leeds , georgi was a kid and had a massive step up to the prem .He is improving and i wish him the best of luck.

Summervilles success came running from deep on the break or cutting inside and using his wand of a right foot. Teams stepped off us and let us have the ball and commit... Struggled to create in that situation, tried to do it all himself.

Rutter ran from deep turned a player and away..... Again teams stepped off us he struggled to be effective.

Farke for me has always played this way..... The difference is not having quality fullbacks who know when to attack and when there is danger. Firpo for instance can contribute going forwards but defensively is weak at best with no regard for defensive positioning for me.

Hard to judge farke as I think he's inherited a higgledy piggldy squad with superstar quality in some positions and bang average at best "big names" in others.
