I'm gutted he is going too, however.

He was already on a PL contract from when he signed and was only 18 months in.

Imagine the uproar if the were to give him even more after we didnt secure promotion.

Also he was offered a new contract this week when it came out the release clause was about to be triggered, and guess what?

Yep. The whole reason we had clauses in the first place was due to the wages being too high. Now if we gave Geo £80k a week, what happens when Ampadu, Rodon, Gnonto, Meslier etc all want parity? It's sad, but it's the price you pay for not going up.

The fact they got the same price for Odobert as we got for Summerville says a lot

Summerville had the same amount of goals and assists at a similar age as Odobert in 700 less minutes in an equally crap prem side

I was about to post the same. Now, I play Football Manager a lot (have done since the start) and when you add a release clause, you go mental but a relelgation release clause is always much much lower. In many cases you are lucky to get your money back. I'm devestated we are losing Rutter. If any player, anytime, ever, made me do a complete 180 on what I thought we'd bought: Rutter is that player. I really am upset over losing him...

A lot of the Brighton faithful not overly impressed with the amount they paid.

I am surprised at the fee that we received for Rutter. We paid an utterly stupid price for what turned out to be a very rough diamond that needed a heck of a lot of polishing. Jesse Marsch was never the guy to do it and neither were those that followed after him. I am actually not sure that Daniel Farke was the man either. Rutter was arguably quite inconsistent last season - at times quite brilliant but equally very wayward at times with no specific role in the team and not much of an idea where the back of the net was. That said it was great to have him in the side

As it is he has, or is, going to a mid table Club at best, where if he gets onto the pitch he will have more time and space to do his stuff and be surrounded by better quality in his team but at the same time he will be up against much better teams than he's faced all last season with better quality players and defenders that will be quick, strong, clever and skilful. He's still young and needs to be on a steep learning curve.

I never imagined that we'd get back anything like the kind of money we'd stumped up in the first place. Overall maybe it'll turn out to be a good business and not a "Cantona"

Rutter obviously wanted to leave and his contract prevented us to do anything about it end of.
What is annoying is this should have happened weeks ago to give us time to find a replacement .

As a group maybe, personally I've been a big fan since he arrived. I'm not really interested in the finances of a football club being a purist. I just want to have and see good players play for us
