Re: Daniel Farke
Why are we even discussing this?
Had it not been for Meslier's c**k-up, we'd be sitting on 19 points with Sunderland & Sheff Utd.

It's true that Farke is little unloved in England but he did get the Borussia Monchengladbach job and even thought they parted company he secured them a respectable mid table position and whilst I'm no expert on German football I'd suggest that Gladbach are a bigger club than WBA, Boro, Burnley etc so Farke was well thought of over there.Cjay wrote: ↑Sun Oct 06, 2024 7:19 pm You could say the same for DF though.
His 2 promotions at Norwich never lead to a sniff of a reliable source saying he was being targeted by a bigger or richer club.
This summer Brighton after a new manager and Leicester and during last season never a sniff of interest in DF.
Never even in the odds.
So something clearly puts clubs and even bookies off.
Corberan reportedly turned us down after we sacked Marsch, Carrick was linked to Manure and Brighton in the past.
They also always feature heavily in odds recently.
Df doesn't? Never a sniff even at Norwich
Also if I remember correctly he was initially reluctant to join us until certain assurances were given and my honest opinion is that he's a good solid safe pair of hands.
Too soon ?

But as you say they sacked him after a season because the fans had turned on him apparently.
Have to admire his front tbf playing the big I am when we interviewed him and we treated him like some big name manager, fair play
Proudly announced he interviewed us whilst a marketing executive, an NFL Accountant a furniture salesman and a physio looked at him lovingly
I'm slightly more impressed by DF tbf this season than last, I like that we've played with a bit more width recently and used the right side of the pitch more and especially last few games got the ball forward now.
Concern is its against his wishes, will be interesting to see how we set up vs Blunts.
He needs to not let his mouth run away with him though, don't want to hear about 90 points or table doesn't matter till 40th game or I know all about promotion.
It is irrelevant.

Have to be honest that if we were to go up then it's highly likely that Farke would bring us back down again. However it's best to worry about that after we're promoted because at this current moment in time it's not really relevant.

Re: Daniel Farke
Would agree.
But he has to get us promoted first which is far from certain of course.
Hooe he does or atleast we do with or without him for our sake.
God knows what a 3rd season down here would see us look like squad wise.

If we fail to return to the PL this season the consequences are potentially so far reaching it doesn't bear thinking about. Ok maybe that's a bit dramatic but at best we'd be a play off team rather than an automatic promotion contender.

You only have to read hatred comments about Germany when England play them in the World Cup/Euro tournaments. This attitude goes back to World War II, even though many weren't born then.
I personally don't have any issues with them, Germany is a far more progressive country & operates efficiently, unlike Britain which is totally broken.

Re: Daniel Farke
To me I think some people just don't seem to like his personality rather than his credentials for the job and what he has already done with us. Suggestions that he is not in the top 10 championship managers but then can only name a handful including the likes of Mark Robins - never got a team promoted to the prem similar to Simon Grayson who got many teams promoted from league 1 to the championship but then when it gets tougher couldn't do it, or Corberan - done well but not actually got a team promoted, or Rob Edwards who is struggling to get a relegated team competing again which has often happened but which Farke overcame here and also at Norwich. Parker and Wilder are the only ones who can really be compared as whilst the others mentioned have had bits of success none have sustained it and got a team promoted to the prem. Lots of managers have gone to clubs in the past and had impressive starts but failed to really deliver.
So out of the 3 who would actually suceed here? We have seen countless times where players have done well elsewhere then flopped here due to the expectation and playing for a bigger club. A great example is what Aidy Boothroyd did when he left Leeds (where he was Blackwell's assistant) and got promoted at Watford. He snapped up two players that had failed at Leeds, Matt Spring and Marlon King and they were vital players for his Watford side. We have also seen managers with great reputations come here and fail, Neil Warnock the great example, promoted everywhere else but did woeful with us overseeing us conceding 7 goals at home to Notts Forest.
So Farke has the credentials. Two promotions and in 4 seasons managing in the championship he has 3 times got teams over 90 points. I know Cjay likes to dismiss the fact he got 90 points last year just because we didn't get promoted but 90 points is usually a guarantee of promotion. If we got 90 points this season then it would be very likely we go up. So straightaway we know he can deliver promotion winning points totals and more importantly we know he can do it with us rather than the uncertainty of how another manager might do.
If we look at Chris F Wilder then he has an abrasive personality. No guarantee that would work here. We saw what happened when Brian Clough took over and didn't get on with the players. Yes maybe if Clough was given time and could have built his own team he might have done well here but can we afford to gamble on Wilder and let him build his own team? Wilder is a Warnock clone. Likes his team full of experienced players who can dig out results and know how to get promotion. He would be a huge gamble here though and the fact he hates us, ala Heckingbottom, would likely see the crowd turn on him very quickly if he didn't deliver.
So on to the other candidate and Scott Parker has done well, no question there. At Fulham he inherited a team that had been relegated but had kept most of its best players. He guided them into the play-offs and got promoted. So less points at Fulham (81) than Farke got despite having a far more settled side. Only difference, and it is a big difference, is that they won theplay-offs. Fulham then got relegated. So very much similar to Farke at Norwich. At Bournemouth he got them promoted with 88 points, again less than Farke got with us. He then left Bournemouth after a poor start to the premier league campaign. So Parker is very much similar to Farke in terms of achievement albeit getting less points at clubs with far less pressure. So probably the pick of the other 2 contemporaries but no real upgrade.
So for me it is definitely a case that we have a very suitable manager and one that I wouldn't replace with any other championship or EFL manager. I see no reason why he won't deliver us another 90 (or more) points this season and nothing so far to suggest that we don't have the players or way of playing to achieve that. We have 3 very creditable away draws against teams likely to be in the top half, WBA, Norwich and Sunderland and there was nothing in any of those matches to suggest they were better than us or that we would struggle to finish higher than them. We have dropped points at home, Portsmouth was a bit of a freak result, it happens, and Burnley was a match that could have gone either way and if we played them tomorrow I'd be confident we would win. Sheff U are the danger but no reason why we don't both go up and start to put some daylight between ourselves and other teams. But for Messlier's error it would be the 2 of us at the top of the table.

Leeds need to bring in a midfielder who can score goals and a decent number 9 in Jan 2027.

Re: Daniel Farke
Apologies I will step into my time machine and look to the future instead of the recent past which is obviously completely irrelevant when trying to ascertain what might happen in the future.
Let us therefore eliminate the use of all statistics, sorry Cjay, as they will no doubt have no bearing on how a player will do in the future.
Sorry I will not be able to post for a while as I have to enter into a dispute with Noddy Holder in regards to his song Merry Xmas Everybody as I wish for it to not offend PJM.
Are you hanging up your stocking on your wall?
No I did it in the past but that is irrelevant and as such I will not do it in the future
It's the time that every santa has a ball
How can we be sure just because it has happened previously
Does he ride a red-nosed reindeer
He has done before but that is no guarantee he will again
Does a ton-up on his sleigh?
What does this even mean?
Do the fairies keep him sober for a day?
I don't know if they have done in the past, sorry the irrelevant past, I have no idea if they will in the future
… So, here it is merry christmas, everybody's having fun
They may have fun but that would be based solely on previous history so again no guarantees - feel free to be miserable people this time around
Look to the future now, it's only just begun
Yes sensible advice - ignore the past too
… Are you waiting for the family to arrive?
If they are not here and have been invited then yes but, like promotions, we cannot guarantee that they will arrive
Are you sure you've got the room to spare inside?
Last time I looked I did have the room but as that is in the past I cannot answer your question with 100% confidence
Does your granny always tell ya (ah-ah-ah)
She is dead, however that is in the past so can be ignored
That the old songs are the best (ah-ah-ah)
Old songs definitely not. Nothing from the past is relevant we should only listen to future songs that we must imagine before they are produced
As she's up and rock 'n' rolling with the rest?
No she is dead. I don't want to predict the future based on previous events but I am quite confident she will not be rock 'n' rolling -burning maybe but that's perhaps not relevant for this cheery Christmas song
… So, here it is merry Christmas, everybody's having fun
We've discussed this point before Noddy, you are just repeating yourself though as you sang that line previously it can be ignored so sorry my bad.
Look to the future now, it's only just begun
Yes still sound advice
… What will your daddy do when he sees your mama kissing santa claus
I think he will be shocked, possibly slightly turned on, I wouldn't like to predict with any degree of confidence
Ah-ahh
Are you hanging up your stocking on your wall?
We are going round in circles. Because we have hung it up several times previously I don't see why you should think we will again
Are you hoping that the snow will start to fall?
I hate the snow Noddy, it makes driving hazardous
… Do you ride on down the hillside (ah-ah)
I hope not as that would suggest the car is out of control
In a buggy you have made? (Ah-ah)
I have never made a buggy though that doesn't mean I won't make one in the future because the past is irrelevant
Will you land upon your head then you've been slayed
I hope not though some may say it may knock some sense into me
… So, here it is merry christmas, everybody's having fun
Look to the future now, it's only just begun
So here it is merry christmas, everybody's having fun
Look to the future now, it's only just begun
… So, here it is merry christmas, everybody's having fun
Look to the future now, it's only just begun
So here it is merry christmas, everybody's having fun (it's christmas!)
Look to the future now, it's only just begun
Just repetitive crap. Just because you have repeatedly done it previously it doesn't give you the right to think you can repeat it again.
