Makes one wonder why Farke brought in Rothwell and Tanaka as well as getting rid of the non-threatening Kamara.......

Dan is one of my favourite players over the last couple of seasons. The Subhuman wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2024 5:35 pm James for me, constant thorn all afternoon and nigh on perfect. Just the skied shot the only blot and the yellow or it would have been perfect

I need to re-watch John, as I was far too frustrated with some of our play & the silly errors that has crept into our game, particularly in away matches.John in Louisiana wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2024 5:36 pm Probably want to watch a replay to fully digest what just went on.
Hard to see, though, how we could have defended their third goal any better. Brilliant centering pass to find an attacker who was marked both in front and behind. At lest that was my initial impression.
Remarkable resilience from our boys.
The moments of quality from certain players was a joy to watch.

Massive difference to last season, we were always chasing from the word go, and just like a racehorse, by the time we got ourselves back in the race, we burned out in the final furlong.weasel wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2024 5:37 pm Biggest difference is that last season at this point we were 8 points behind both Ipswich and Leicester at this point and having to play every game desperate for a win and knowing a loss could almost have been the end of any automatic chance.
(and us taking 10 points from the next 4 saw us still 8 behind Leicester and 7 behind Ipswich - full throttle wasn't closing the gap)
We are now in the driving seat & hopefully remain in a decent position, so we can afford to lose the odd game without seeming constantly under pressure!

Swansea were average last season. The Subhuman wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2024 5:55 pm Swansea always impress me when I see them, they have done for years.... They really should be a perennial playoff team.
We thumped seven goals past them in our two matches, they were really poor at the Liberty Stadium when they hardly got out of their own half, as Summerville, Gnonto & Georginio ran them ragged.
Luke Williams has certainly improved them, if not their position in the league table.
The Swans have had some good teams in the past, though.

He was useless last season at it, the 3 promoted teams had the most goals from subs incidentally (we were 14th I think it was).
It really matters.
Much better this season largely to one of the best finishers in the league and today an Italian International.
With the squad Farke has had here he should have been making the most of the bench far more often.
Hopefully it continues this season.

We rarely do though, DDB. Our full-backs are not great at defending, Byram probably the best of the three.

I have very good friends supporting Liverpool, Spurs & Hull whom rate Farke highly.Irish Ian wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2024 7:01 pm Seems like I missed a cracker.
Well done lads for giving us such an entertaining game.
This afternoon I was talking to a Spurs fan who mentioned how Farke had built the best team in the league despite losing such wonderful talent during the summer.. He reckoned we would do well to hold on to him once the round of sackongs gets into full swing.
Funny how outsiders can sometimes point out what some of us cant seem to., being almost too close to the subject to get a proper persepective perhaps?
Luton will be a tricky game, they are in a false position imo/

Always thought Kamara was the wrong player for our system last season. He was rumoured for a couple of months then signed right at the deadline. Made me think we signed him because other options fell through.
Don't get me wrong. I think he's a very good footballer. But he didn't fit what was needed in Farke's system. And we are certainly better equipped this season with Tanaka.

You and me both Leon!
Giving up goals at the close of both halves just about gave me stroke.

He does look a really good prospect. I think he could have played sooner. But Farke doesn't seem to like putting much responsibility on youngsters (Archie being the exceptional exception).
2 years ago he was behind the likes of Moore and Mullen in the youth system. And Monteiro was much hyped when Orta signed him a couple of years ago. Debayo has jumped from the under 18's and ahead of all of them.

So after today are we all agreed that Piroe is basically a goalhanger that doesn't bring much to the team overall ?

Re: Swansea City v Leeds Utd Match Thread
Tbf to Kamara he kept the ball better than Rothwell, his passing was more accurate and he was better at holding on to the ball and winning it back.
Was the absolute epitome of safety first though.
All things we know Farke loves hence why he liked the Gruev and Amps partnership and given what we know about him without those injuries we'd still probably be using Gruev and Amps now.
Will be interesting to see what we do if and when Amps or Gruev return.
But I don't think Rothwell or Tanaka are massively more creative in terms of final ball than Kamara was, bit braver when passing the ball but despite Rothwell taking all our set pieces we still only have 1 assist between Rothwell and Tanaka.
Kamara actually had 2 at this stage.
Farke's style doesn't encourage creativity and goals from midfield.
But Tanaka is better overall than Kamara imo.
