Wow! Just finished the replay. Bit of a stream of consciousness reaction here so apologies beforehand if it’s not terribly cohesive.

Anyway, a very encouraging start (I stated beforehand that an early goal was crucial). However, what followed was arguably our worst first half of football this season. Passes going nowhere, no cohesion, no flow, nothing. Oddly, Meslier was the one bailing out Rodon (what was he thinking with that challenge?). Don’t think the Byram-Solomon pairing is a good one….looked non-existent out there. Speaking of which, Ampadu looked completely out of sorts. I’m not buying from DF that he looked sharp in practice. Piroe was anonymous again (looked like some of the 5 year olds I saw out on the pitch today with all the whiffs on the ball leading up to Aaronson’s goal). Wondering if he spent the international break working on his tan instead of his game. Hard to blame him, though, as he has ZERO competition from Joseph, who should've been sent out on loan (in January or earlier) and some real competition brought in.

As things typically regress to the mean, Meslier rediscovered his usual self in the second half. I’ve never seen a Goalkeeper so consistently struggle to catch routine crosses in his area…it’s just baffling. 2 million (in the summer or January) would’ve purchased more assurance in net than what he provides. Seems a small price to pay to get the big bucks in the EPL.

Byram should never have played, let alone started. Heard Schmidt played very well for Switzerland over the international break and should’ve been given the start with Firpo on around the 60 -65 minute mark. Both offer more dynamism (and athleticism) than Byram.

Agree with Sub’s take that 85% of this is on Farke. His game management has continued to regress as the season has gone on. Thought he was starting to get it right in November/December, but the past two months have seen a sharp reversion to last season…flogging the same tired starters week in, week out while simultaneously rendering the substitutes ineffective (through a lack of playing time). It’s a film script I’ve seen before and it doesn’t end well. Really don’t want to have to face off against Sunderland a third time. I don’t like those odds against that squad and manager.

More to follow with player ratings, etc., but hard not to feel a bit sunk/dejected at the moment.

Yeah. It was certainly out of sorts. Fatigue and rigidity of tactics and selection probably to blame. He just doesn't know how to change it up. Many games we've dropped points I can say we were unlucky. But not today. We probably deserved to lose.

Agree with most of what you say. Same players playing week in week out, getting tired and getting predictable for the opposition. Bench players stagnating and getting rusty because they don't get used. Gnonto and Ramazani have been bafflingly underused in 2025. Schmidt is a mystery. Looked good in the cup games but not trusted with a single minute in league. And Farke has totally wasted Cresswell and Joffy because he doesn't trust the,. Yet they're showing great value elsewhere. His rotation and squad use have been very poor.

A mate of mine reckons 15 points, I reckon about 10 which would be enough for us to be confident of lifting the championship title by now.

I don't disagree Leon. That result wasn't completely down to Meslier though, the team and Farke were terrified to go for a win.

I watched Ayling getting rinsed every week in the EPL and people were still singing his praises. Nice guy, but I'm not really bothered about that, I want people who have talent and determination to win that's reflected in performances on the pitch.

I've watched my NFL team Washington struggle for three decades and be absolute pants to watch. Two seasons ago the franchise was taken over by a professional ownership group and all the years of s**t have ended. Washington have been transformed virtually overnight and are now great to watch, and are true competitors for the Superbowl, and will be for many years to come.

As I've asked before, if Washington can turn an embarrassment of a franchise around in two seasons why can't Leeds United? I'm fed up with watching feckless coaches and gutless players misrepresent what Leeds United stands for.

And btw Washington's General Manager is Adam Peters, ex 49ers Assistant GM, and an absolute genius at building wining rosters/squads. It's an absolute thrill to watch Washington again, after suffering 30 years of garbage being trotted out on the pitch.

I'm expecting absolutely nothing from Farke and these players based on what I witnessed last season, and the current implosion that's a repeat of last season's run in. Farke's talking the same s**t he did last season, celebrating getting 80 points! Last season he was celebrating getting 90 points! So what? I watched the lad in goal for Swansea catch crosses and corners and make some good saves. He didn't drop the ball at our mans feet like that French Muppet. He must have cost us at least ten points with his schoolboy errors - he should have been dropped after the Sunderland match, but no, out come the excuses that the ball diverted off a divot - bollocks !!

Farke has consistently said that Meslier is the best goalkeeper in the Championship Which seriously poses questions about Farke's judgement, as Meslier is one of, if not the worst goalie in the Championship.

All jokes aside, I'm fuming and really disappointed that we are being put through this same s**t again.

I expect that we are not gonna get promoted, Farke will get the boot, and a host of our better quality players will be gone, and we're back to the drawing board again, with our financial clout diminished.

That's how I saw it first time round, the replay of the game will be hard to watch, I'll still be blowing a fuse!

How can those players can put in such a woeful display is beyond my comprehension.

I missed the game but the only positive spin i can put on it is we're going through a poor spell and we're still top 2.
The poor spell has to end now though or we're in trouble.
