The international players certainly need a couple of days off for sure and as we have midweek game next week followed by an early Saturday KO and then it's the Easter games it's the last chance until the final week of the season.

Isn’t that more to do with them resting up, and getting away from football completely.
We’ve had a number of players away all over the place, fair amount of mileage in those legs. Seems sensible to me, but I can see how it could be construed as you have suggested.

Just seems a bit odd as he said lack of time on the training ground was the reason for the performance (whether you believe that or not).
So surely you'd want them on it as much as possible now?

Re: Leeds Utd v Swansea City Match Thread
You give them 2 days off any serious heavy training, you still have them in going through the machinations of the game ahead.
Our manager coupled with some seizmic errors lost that game. No team in this division should be on top of us, even if they try to put us on the back foot we have the squad to not allow it. Going 1-0 up so early cost us the match and it quite simply should be the catalyst to go for more. Swansea stepped up a gear and we dropped into reverse because we'd got the first goal, and that, is instructions from the boss. We had the bench to tell that starting 11 to go at it for at least 60mins and then gauge where we're at.
Not 1 single team should be capable of putting us on the back foot, especially at home, they did, he didn't realise it, and he's a prick.
Yes
, I'm still livid.
Play to our strengths you effing fool, and don't worry about ANYTHING else the opponent can throw at you, WE ARE BETTER THAN THEM.
Unless of course you as the manager making all the decisions, all the plays, all the positions, all the subs....go and eff it ALL up.
Why level the playing field and invite teams onto us?
Dickhead.

Surely our managers substitutions had the desired effect and we regained the lead at 2-1 because of them ?Trigger wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 1:35 pm You give them 2 days off any serious heavy training, you still have them in going through the machinations of the game ahead.

Also if we'd had one more substitute available I'm sure Gruev or Big Josh would have been brought on to try and see it through but you can't fault Farke for making all the changes as we needed a goal which Gnonto duly scored.

Yeah, as I mentioned I can see why many would see it as you do pal.
On the other hand, many are calling for the likes of James to be rested (albeit for form reasons) and when they get rest it’s seen as a bad thing.
We will see if it was the correct decision at full time on Saturday.

Good point about the press.DDB220 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 29, 2025 6:24 pm Go on lad needs someone to prop up the sky. The desire or need for an early goal seems to have turned on its head based on recent performances. I think I prefer the low block rather than a team having a go and pressing us. So many of our players struggle against an organised press, which does not bode well if we get promoted. We will have that to cope with week in week out.
There was quite a few below performances today and all a few showed composure and spatial awareness in possession.
We really don't look comfortable which isn't a surprise given how slow we move the ball.
Makes you wonder why more teams haven't tried it?
DF teams struggled with it before? Hence why he had a reputation for his teams being leaky in transition.
Is it fear of better players? Or just a mentality thing? Most teams sit back against richer teams in every league.
Credit Swansea because even teams who have pressed us like Sunderland and Sheffield United tended to drop off as the game wore on.
Swansea didn't.

Complete nonsense. Just a lack of composure & concentration.

They could have been tight with their finances and put Joffy ahead of Joseph. I think he's a better player. They sent the wrong player out on loan.1964white wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 10:10 am Always thought he was overrated by our fan base, obviously our management fell for it too, maybe being tight with their finances as they knew purchasing a new No.9 would cost them a fortune.
Apart from Meslier, Joseph is a huge disappointment of the season, both have probably cost us promotion.
I also think there's an argument that the coaching staff have failed to develop Joseph. Great talent as he's shown at 21's club and international level. But he hasn't converted that to senior level yet. Have to start questioning the coaching staff too.

We don't know, he hasn't played since October. Joffy should have stayed, massive error from Farke, one of many. He's a better footballer than Aaronson. Still think Joseph is the better striker, Joffy MOTM for Hull yesterday but he played left wing, he's played left, right and AMF for Hull this season so farandrewjohnsmith wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 4:14 pm They could have been tight with their finances and put Joffy ahead of Joseph. He said he had the players he wanted in the squad and didn't need to make signings in January.CHAPELALLMAN wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 12:20 pm Were you following this club when the last 10 or so games of last season unfolded ?
Most of the players who underperformed in those last league games plus the playoff final are massively underperforming again, and at exactly the same stage of the season
.
Farke could have hedged against this risk through bringing in one or two players in January and rotating his squad - however he has chosen to do exactly what he did during the collapse of last season. Very likely these decisions will cost him his job before very long
..
Gnonto, Ramazani and Joseph haven't started a game in months. Schmidt is in exile. Guilavogui is a one minute man. What part of that tells us that Farke believes he has the players he needs? I'm baffled by it. Don't get me wrong. I think we do have plenty of quality in reserve. But for some reason Farke doesn't think they're good enough. He would rather keep turning out the same predictable line up and running the same players into the ground every week.

He opted to start Byram, Aaronson, Rothwell, Amapdu over Tanaka, Firpo, and Gnonto presumably because they'd been around Thorp Arch for the full international break. And all those players are better than Swansea. The international break is no excuse whatsoever.

Re: Leeds Utd v Swansea City Match Thread
Then we make mistakes and throw the game away. Joseph and Ramazani guilty of mistakes at the end, giving the ball away. I put that down to Farke allowing them to get rusty, not giving them game time. In Joseph's case, he needs to develop the experience of closing out matches like this. And I blame Farke for not developing him as a player. And if Farke thinks he's not ready to spot Piroe for the occasional start, that he doesn't trust him for the occasional start then why did he say he was happy with no signings in January?Jammy 07 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 1:52 pm Surely our managers substitutions had the desired effect and we regained the lead at 2-1 because of them ?

Re: Leeds Utd v Swansea City Match Thread
Joffy is the player we need off the bench so many times. He's that dynamo that can give the needed impetus late in games. It just comes down to Farke not knowing how to use peripheral squad players. I've been supportive of Farke in so many ways. But his lack of trust in his squad players and reluctance to use them more has been baffling. I fully blame him for stagnating Joffy, Cresswell and now Joseph. And making players like Ramazani rusty when they're eventually called upon. He doesn't get the best out of our peripheral players. The Subhuman wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 4:18 pm We don't know, he hasn't played since October. Re: Leeds Utd v Swansea City Match Thread
We get left in the dark
I'd imagine Tanaka and Firpo were given a game off
Gnonto came off with an ankle injury the previuos week, probably why he wasn't risked outside of desperation
With Gnonto sidelined, no cover for James who has to start despite the fact he needs a rest
Solomon could have played for Aaronson, with Byram starting it was always unlikely he's have a good game on the left
Rama is more of a natural left wing, not perfect but would allow Byram to play the inverted role
Gruev should have started with Tanaka in midfield. A natural DMF who's an excellent tackler and a natural centre mid who is creative around the box.
