Have you seen the full clip? Roy Walker trying to keep a straight face. Much better than the c*ckwomble that hosts the show now.

Re: Who is the best manager in the championship?
Corberan is probably one of the best manager at changing styles to suit who he has available. WBA had one of the worst actual squads last season but the defensive ethos got them into the playoffs and if he stayed they likely finish fourth this season. Under Bielsa he had the 21's playing open attacking football as he had the players to do that. Top managers/coaches fit the system to the players available, poor managers/coaches fit the players to the system
Goes for most team sports ..

Personally dismissed him as a target for us before because his style was painful to watch. The Subhuman wrote: ↑Sun May 18, 2025 11:47 am Corberan is probably one of the best manager at changing styles to suit who he has available. But can't knock his record.
Had a quick read and does seem he's playing a more possession based style at Valencia.

Always rated him highly as he has that unique adaptibilty that most managers don't have... Helped he had a spell under Bielsa.

Re: Who is the best manager in the championship?
There''s no doubt Coberan has something as a manager and his results at Valencia are mightily impressive especially as they were 2nd bottom when he joined.Cjay wrote: ↑Sat May 17, 2025 5:09 pm This thread is all completely irrelevant anyway . . . .
It's clear now the answer to the original question was Carlos Corberan.
Took a bottom of the table Valencia to 11th with only 1 loan signing.
They'd be 8th based on seasonal ppg.
So the answer isn't Farke or Parker or Carrick or Wilder.
It's Corberan whose done this rescue act with a crisis club and 0 money 3 times now.
Farke however has now won the Championship title 3 times and given how good Burnley were in also achieving 100 points then winning it this season was probably Farke's finest achievement yet.

Never been his biggest fan but turning round 3 separate teams and arguably overachieving with the players you have whilst ownership and off field turmoil goes on around you is highly impressive.Jammy 07 wrote: ↑Sun May 18, 2025 1:51 pm There''s no doubt Coberan has something as a manager and his results at Valencia are mightily impressive especially as they were 2nd bottom when he joined.

Doesn't win you trophies but in context it shows a very decent manager.
Basically done a Bielsa in terms of getting a lot out of little three times.

Re: Who is the best manager in the championship?
We'll probably see Coberan getting an opportunity at a CL club in Spain fairly soon, that's unless Valencia suddenly have the funds to challenge which I don't think they have.Cjay wrote: ↑Sun May 18, 2025 2:16 pm Never been his biggest fan but turning round 3 separate teams and arguably overachieving with the players you have whilst ownership and off field turmoil goes on around you is highly impressive.

Does that make him a better manager than Farke ?
No not as it stands in my opinion but he definitely has the potential to be better so let's see how they both do next season and then maybe discuss this again.

Re: Who is the best manager in the championship?
Like the other fella says Mr Corberan seems to be able to adjust to what he has at his disposal. Probably better technical players at Valencia than he had at WBA and Huddersfield. Would have been interested to see what style he would have gone for if he had taken over from Randy Marsh as he would have had a mix of Bielsa taught players and the chaseballers.

Re: Who is the best manager in the championship?
Corberan was my first choice for manager after relegation, quality manager with established links to the club. Farke was top three, so I was happy enough.

Re: Who is the best manager in the championship?
Farke was less of a gamble, as has been proven, given his track record of actually getting promotion. In a parallel world somewhere Corberan took us over and Cjay likley spouted vitriol towards him at every opportunity too whilst pretending to be a cheerleader not wearing any knickers. The Subhuman wrote: ↑Sun May 18, 2025 3:49 pm Corberan was my first choice for manager after relegation, quality manager with established links to the club. That and being able to overachieve in terms of quality is probably the biggest strength a manager can haveweasel wrote: ↑Sun May 18, 2025 2:59 pm Like the other fella says Mr Corberan seems to be able to adjust to what he has at his disposal.
