That's what's being ignored. We were the architects of our own downfall, Arsenal didn't have to earn it. Jamie Redknapp just said the same, he must be "negative" too.YorkshireSquare wrote: ↑Sat Aug 23, 2025 7:34 pm I don't think those of us who are pissed off were ever expecting a win, just us giving a better account of ourselves.

Championship team + stach gets thumped by a top prem team....
We can't really be surprised. The first 11 is arguably not much stronger than last season

5 litre bottle of ketchup would last me 20 years..... the one in my fridge is a 400ml, been in there 2 years and is half used. I'm a BBQ sauce guy mainly. The best of which is Sweet Baby Rays.

Arsenal didn't have to play well or have Saka and Co providing moments of brilliance to beat us.
Had that happened no complaints
Our own choices, inability and failure made it easy, thats the frustration.
And we have by choice kept previously under performing Premier league players like Harrison and Aaronson.

We're all pissed off, just some of us recognise the gulf and hope that we can one day spend £68m on a striker.YorkshireSquare wrote: ↑Sat Aug 23, 2025 7:34 pm I don't think those of us who are pissed off were ever expecting a win, just us giving a better account of ourselves.
Moaning about the manager and squad we have is just moaning for the sake of it.
We knew there'd be spankings in the PL, our direct rivals will suffer them too.
Look forward to Newcastle, maybe we've learned a few lessons tonight.

Some people are telling me they enjoyed that!
I'm moaning about us not using the squad we have.

Of course we will be outsiders, we are a newly promoted team, trying to compete at a much higher level with a limited budget compared to others. The Subhuman wrote: ↑Sat Aug 23, 2025 7:03 pm But the rest of the division isn't. Some of the lower table teams will give Arsenal/Liverpool etc games this season. Most of them in fact. We're not in Brentford's class yet, that's not to say we can't beat them or any team, Any Given Saturday to paraphrase the NFL, but we'll be outsiders in every game bar Burnley and Sunderland
We will find out if these lower level teams give Arsenal a game, personally I doubt it.
I’m confident we will survive, and that game was not a season defining moment by any stretch.

Re: Arsenal v Leeds Utd Match Thread
By the way, I was stood on the applauding Thierry Henry, like most of the Kop, when they toked us 4-1 at Elland road in 2003. I get being beaten by a side who are clearly lightyears ahead of us. But I want to see Leeds give a decent account of ourselves, I don't wat to see us giving the ball away so easily, to give goals away so cheaply.

Don't think anyone is criticising losing to Arsenal just the manner of it.
Lower league teams give better accounts in the cup than we did.
Nobody lost by 5 to Arsenal last season at all.
We made it so easy for them with poor choices and bad coaching from set pieces, thats imo the annoyance.
Not the actual loss of 3 points.

Re: Arsenal v Leeds Utd Match Thread
I had a big reply typed up and somehow I got signed out.
I dont see Farke picking players on sentiment.
He picks the players who he believes will perform the way he wants them to and drops those who dont.
Isnt that what we want?
As for your earlier reply... The gist of what I wrote was.
You asked for us to be defensive. Arsenal had 68% possession. So we did allow them the ball.
You asked us to play on the break. How do you do that against a team who doesn't over commit players? Who are masters of pressing, and who are of a higher skill level man for man all over the pitch.
You claimed we didnt play our best side, but how do you know for sure we didnt? Who should have played and why? Also we missed Ampadu today and were unable to fix that problem. Hinsight is easy.
And was it one or two poor performances, that could have been fixed by a personell change or not something more basic than that?
I do agree that changes will need to be made, but more in trying to find a way to get a foothold in games like today. We have saw the switch to a 4-3-3 so we may see other things tried too
Some of our players looked overawed, but we were perfect victims to a very strong side who will be looking to win the league while we scrap it out with the bottom feeders.
So yes a few changes, but no point ripping it up and starting again

As I said...
We know there is a massive gulf in class between the top of the Championship and the top of the Premier League. We were never expected to complete with Arsenal, City, Liverpool and Chelsea.
But the bottom half of the Premier League is not as good as people make out, that is where there are points to be had and those are the games we need to be getting results.
I think that's pretty relaist, and I stand by it. But just feel we could have done better and Farke could have done more to prove that the Premier League is not beyond him. He didn't adapy with Norwich, he had his excuses, but I didn't see him adapt today.

Probably get pelters for this, but
... Harrison needs to start v Newcastle. Gnonto and James have offered very little so far, Gnonto less so.
