Power cuts, penalties and prejudice - just another day in the life of Leeds Utd, as their winless streak is set to continue to a third month, unless they can defeat Leicester City on Thursday evening.

Leeds outplayed the Premier League pacesetters for much of the game, but as we have come to expect, individual errors continue to cost them dearly. This time it was Rodrigo's turn to turn villain. His spectacular right to left wing pass landed in no-mans land, and was quickly intercepted by Odegaard. His sublime through ball released Saka, who passed Cooper like he wasn't there. Just as it looked that the England winger had run out of space, his rasping shot somehow flew past Meslier, and into the roof of the net.

Leeds thought they had levelled immediately after the break. Second half substitute Bamford smashed the ball past Ramsdale, but the goal was chalked off for an alleged infringement on Gabriel. With 30 minutes remaining, Leeds were awarded a penalty after Saliba was adjudged to have controlled the ball with his arm, in his own penalty area. A dejected Jesse Marsch looked on with his hands on his knees, as Bamford dragged his spot kick wide.

Aaronsen and Summerville both went close before further drama, in injury time, threatened Arsenal's frail lead. Gabriel blocked Bamford's run, to allow the ball to bounce to Ramsdale. The Leeds striker bundled into Gabriel, sending him sprawling to the floor. He then kicked out at Bamford who went down like he'd been shot. Gabriel was given his marching orders, and for the second time in the match, the ref pointed to the spot. Unfortunately for Leeds, the man in black changed his mind after reviewing the incident on the monitor, on VAR's advice. To rub salt into the wound, Gabriel's red card was rescinded too.

But when you watch again, Gabriel does body check and the push is a bit of nothing. It was 50/50 for me. Could have been either.

So there's a thought. On review it should only be overturned if it was a clear and obvious error. It was a subjective call to give the penalty. An error maybe. But clear and obvious?

We March on. We're Leeds. Not sure how long you've been a fan Paul. But we've had more than our share of bad decisions. It's what makes us so die dard.
I was a casual fan during the O'Leary years. Kept on eye on Leeds in the lower divisions. Started really paying attention when Bielsa was appointed in 2018. Since joining this board last Spring I've gotten much more engaged. And I've learned a lot about the club from folks that post here. Including our history of poor treatment by the football establishment.

I watch it again this afternoon, 96 minutes of absorbing football, one of the best PL matches this season.

Full on entertainment from start to finish.

Had that goal stood, Paddy's confidence would have been sky-high.

Yeah but we concede 5 pens a game if that was a problem... especially Coops.

You see it happen fairly often, maybe on the assumption the edge over the guy that missed the first one. According to the post match on TSB, they were saying Bamford grabbed the ball immediately. Nice confidence from the man.
I mentioned on this or the Breakfast thread that Bamford grabbed the ball immediately, there was no way he was relinquishing the ball to anyone Andrew.
