Re: Robbie Evans interview
I agree with most of what he said, but I wish they'd stop going on about Harry Wilson. As far as I can see, no Leeds fan was desperate for him to join.
Just goes to show how much Farke was backed in the Championship, so ends the myth he wasn't. Sunderland are in a stronger position, as they had a much lower wage bill and they sold two players for £35m.
Also, unless Mes is signing a new deal, don't they realise he'll be gone for nothing next summer? So how is it best for both parties he stayed?

Re: Robbie Evans interview
This Robbie Evans is just one more lying, incompetent twat.
Exactly in the vein of Orta, Radz and Kinnear.
The 49ers, Marathe, Adam Underwood and this tosser Evans have 100% ensured we are getting relegated this season.
So, after they have fooked it up so badly, like the last lot did, I don't wanna hear him spout his fookin lies.
As long as we are owned and managed by lying, incompetent arseholes this club is never gonna progress.

Sensible interview and seems the club adopted a sensible approach. No doubt though some will twist it, oh hang on.....

Re: Robbie Evans interview
It is, the arrogance, delusion and detachment is straight out of the 3 stooges handbook of How To Get Relegated From The EPL
The interview is full of Kinnear spin bites, like when Rady proclaimed Ädam Forshaw is like a new signing" we now have Evans saying "Largie would struggle for pitch time, cos we've signed Jack Harrison"
Right out of the Bernard Manning joke book
Still, all the happy clappers will be lapping it up
It said it all when Nmecha and Bornauw were our first signings, two injury prone, non-achieving players. These are exactly guys that nobody wants and you would still pick up on transfer deadline day with no problem.
We're a sleeping giant being hindered by amateur comedians, it's 100% the 49ers fault for employing these creatures.
Sunderland have set out the blueprint on what you can do with a great and professional recruitment team.

Some of it was interesting
Some was illogical
Some was nonsense.
After years of Kinnear (this guy even has the same economic degree background) tiz best to just pick out the relevant bits

If all goes well are you the type of member that will come back on and hold his hand up or one that just continually finds fault anywhere he can, I'm not looking to argue and maybe you have valid points, it's just i'd rather block you now than have to keep reading a one-sided poster that finds it hard to show balance? No offence at all is intended, just better that way i've found elsewhere.White Riot wrote: ↑Thu Sep 04, 2025 6:43 am It is, the arrogance, delusion and detachment is straight out of the 3 stooges handbook of How To Get Relegated From The EPL![]()

Interesting use of the word illogical, never had you down as a trekky. Perhaps you should try and arrange a mind meld. Has any club spokesperson ever said anything you haven’t disagreed with ?Cjay wrote: ↑Thu Sep 04, 2025 11:19 am It's nice to get an insight though, behind the corporate spin and waffle.

I do wonder what would represent club ownership and management Utopia for you. But you have to be realistic if you have such a scenario.

I like to get an insight into the process and such which is always useful.
The obvious spin stuff which is pretty clear is of no interest to me.
Or daft comments like the "we have 2 points per game at home" after 2 games, why is that relevant? We also have 0 points away from home and are on target to concede 100 goals, is that relevant?
It's an as expected corporate interview same as Kinnear used to give.
Some interesting and some not.

Every person in a high management position in any industry will point to perceived positives. He has far more concerns concerning employees, sponsors etc to keep on side.Cjay wrote: ↑Thu Sep 04, 2025 12:38 pm Erm I don't know what a mind meld is?

Re: Robbie Evans interview
Ah sorry, didn't realise you expected a response.
Erm.
Never get perfect owners, I assume even Man City fans must have some complaints despite all the trophies.
But Villa owners maybe? Two independently very wealthy ambitious people using own cash and crucially putting the right qualified people in the right roles.
That last bit is where we lack imo, money aside.
Robbie Evans is an Economics graduate who spent most of his career in the medical Industry
Marathe is a self confessed numbers guy with no football experience to speak of.
And Underwood is an academy coach.
That's the senior football management team in charge of our club.
Very capable people in their own ways I'm sure, but under qualified for the roles they have here imo
Go as far to say in terms of football know how our Championship leadership team had far more with, Kinnear, Steinsson, Hammond and Miles.

I like a f**k you owner like the great Al Davis, except for football.... Work the system owners, make it work for you not against you. And of course they need to be rich and able to put money into the club

Re: Robbie Evans interview
If you look into the management structure of many clubs, every person holding a key role was not born or a natural in their given role. Perhaps some have been thrust into certain positions too early, but it does not mean they lack to skills to be successful.Cjay wrote: ↑Sat Sep 06, 2025 4:53 pm Ah sorry, didn't realise you expected a response.

Marathe is a shrewd man, identifying talent and having the balls to promote form within is generally good management. Big decisions always carry risk, but progression requires a level of manageable risk. The 49r’s have owned the club for two years. Getting all the ducks in a row across the club infrastructure is not a quick fix.
I do not subscribe to the suggestion that they played a significant part to all the previous (hindsight enabled) poor decision making when they were minority owners. Much of what is suggested is mere speculation without any real evidence or factual knowledge. I do not doubt that Marathe had a voice during that period, but to lay all the ills at his door is an axe to grind perspective IMO.
The next two years will underline whether the ownership are successful.

You would have thought however that our guys would have been working with those named above and learning from them, same as in most businesses. It wouldn't be then that thos guys left, took their spreadsheet with them and our guys were left with just a pencil and pad of paper. They would have put structures in place, likely a complex database with millions of footballers in it, stats aplenty, background detail etc. They would have also been shown how to assess a player's value, what sort of wages should be offered etc.Cjay wrote: ↑Sat Sep 06, 2025 4:53 pm Ah sorry, didn't realise you expected a response.

So whilst they may not have been completing deals prior to this summer the would have been a big part of the process and doing things in a very similar manner. It isn't like a complete recruitment team left and we put up an advert in the job centre. It is simply a continuation of what was already in place. Hammond especially seems to specialise in going into clubs for just a short period so presumably he sets things up and when everything is running smoothly his job is done and he moves on.
