No, but the quality we do have is replaced by solid and safe.. Gnonto, when fit, should start every game. Ditto Tanaka and a couple of others. It only needs one player to pull a team together, look at Rhodri at City, not the same team without him.Barlow Boy wrote: ↑Tue Dec 02, 2025 2:00 pm It’s just the truth, we don’t have the individual quality of other teams.
Anyway
Perri -
Bogle
Justin - if fit
Ampadu -
Rodon
Struijk
Gnonto
Stach
DCL
Tanaka

I bet he will go with his usual set up,and involve the brilliant Aaronson and dcl his favouritesand he will say Aaronson plays cos James is injured.
I think if he goes with his usual we will get battered they are way to quick on the break and I still don't have faith in Perri I think he has conceded 3,1,2 and 3 if my memory serves me right

Xhaka at Sunderland being more pertinent. The Subhuman wrote: ↑Tue Dec 02, 2025 3:22 pm No, but the quality we do have is replaced by solid and safe.. Gnonto, when fit, should start every game. City went from unbeatable to top 5 losing Rhodri
Take out Xhaka and Sunderland will fall
Happens in other teams
You need to play your quality, Gnonto and Tanaka are two of our best yet they sat behind lesser players when everyone is fit. Piroe is another.
You need solid hardworkers too, but not an entire team of meh..

Rodri & Xhaka are different class, in comparison to the likes of Gnonto, Tanaka & Piroe. The Subhuman wrote: ↑Tue Dec 02, 2025 3:49 pm City went from unbeatable to top 5 losing Rhodri

Rhodri is obviously, not even City have another in that class.... Xhaka isn't. Gnonto is high class, Tanaka is the classiest mid we have.

Maresca seems to think we are quite predictable
Ironic really as DF has actually beaten him twice.

There seems to be a theory you play City with a back 5, irrespective of usual formation. Maybe DF has heard that and tried it out second half..
Couple of years ago more teams changed to the 5 chain when playing City than any other team and by a distance

Didn’t realise midweek games are on Sky including the Chelsea game.
Thought that was TNT territory.

Do I want Leeds to play a 5-3-2 style? no not really but the players we bought like Bijol, Stach and DCL were signed for this style of play - I’d love us to have the squad to out play teams like city and Chelsea but we don’t and the quality will always tell if you try it. Farke must play to our strengths, he has got a free hit tomorrow to give it a go if he goes with the tried and failed 4-3-3 Leeds and Farke are cooked.

Re: Leeds United v Chelsea Match Thread
Think 433 suits us best with inverted wingers playing narrow. That would allow you to perm any three from Nmecha, DCL, Gnonto and Okafor and even Harry Gray. Ampadu as the Sweeper falling back to make a three man defence when out of possesion. Stach/Tanaka as the central midfield.
I really think a fit Stach in a team devoid of Longstaff will be a much better player.

Pep said that before when we had Bielsa. He wondered how he would manage with the shiney stools of our promotion side.Jaydog wrote: ↑Tue Dec 02, 2025 3:21 pm Very interesting matchup between Farke and his unpolishable turds v Poundland Pep & his super clean nowhere near a turd billion pound squad.
A much derided manager by someone on here.
Now what if Farke had these players at his disposal & PP had ours. What then prey tell.

Tbf to him he's improved as a manager imo.Jaydog wrote: ↑Tue Dec 02, 2025 3:21 pm Very interesting matchup between Farke and his unpolishable turds v Poundland Pep & his super clean nowhere near a turd billion pound squad.

Less obsessed with "his way" passing possession football and more willing to adapt, go long, sit deep, drop off.
It's all you can ask of a manager tbf.
Watched them vs Man City down to 10 men, really good shape.

It's a metaphor for them currently stinking, being less than flushed with success, not up to the job,...if we get a few wins I expect some will be laughing on the other sides of our feces.
Etc...

We're a couple of quality players short and there's a couple I don't rate but most of our players are good enough and none of them are turds. theyt're all pro footballers.
It's just a cheap diversion for those that think Farke would be one of the best managers in the prem if he had Chelsea's squad. Well we've seen a number of managers fail with billion pound squads.
