As you imply, a victory over Sunderland would widen the gap & harm any thoughts of West Ham & Forest catching us, let them fight for that 17th place amongst themselves. The Subhuman wrote: ↑Sun Mar 01, 2026 9:35 pm Fulham have improved this season so tough ask that away for the Hammers. Think we're at the point where a 9 point lead will be really tough to pull back so if we win and Hammers lose maybe some of the nervous ones can breathe a collective sigh of relief
Can't see Forest getting anything from the Etihad... Spuds will beat Palace and that may help them turn the form around

Re: Relegation Thread.
With our most difficult fixtures behind us and still a 6 point gap plus as a healthy GD advantage to the bottom 3 it does now look like we should be able to stay in the division. Still work to be done and points to be garnered but we should be delighted with this current position.
However for balance we've still only won 7 games all season, which represents one victory for every 4 games played and we really need to improve on this going forward both this season and next.

Beat Sunderland and West Ham lose, then we can forget about being relegated and try for a top half finish and winning the FA Cup.
Somehow I get the feeling it 's not gonna be that straight forward..

I'm still believe we could achieve around 45 points, maybe more!
14 points in 10 games is not beyond us!

Sunderland probably need three more points and they can relax... They'll be looking at us as a possible source of those points, they might be up for this one

Agreed but as I've said before, we have a history of struggling against lesser clubs.

A Spuds-Palarse draw would be nice, alongside a Leeds home win of course.

Love your optimism, I think at best 10 or 11points but expecting we might pick up 8 or 9.
Quite a few draws in that too.

Re: Relegation Thread.
We are a drawing team.
4 home
6 away
36% of our matches drawn, this season.
Winning four of our remaining twelve games is a realistic figure. I'd be happy with three wins, tbh.
Two wins & three draws keeps us up, imo!

I think it might keep us up too, but I’m expecting one win and six draws

Re: Relegation Thread.
I hope im wrong but im not getting too carried away just yet at our position. We may have what some fans see as a good run in, where we will pick up plenty of points to keep us up. I dont see it that way, it certainly wont be easy. Just because we have the likes of Wolves and Burnley at home doesnt automatically give us another 6 points.
I reckon 10 at most and more likely 8 or 9 points. Despite our good home record we all know what the fans in ER can be like when things start to go wrong. There will still be lots of pressure in the remaining 10 games, and players are human and they can struggle under pressure.
Having said all that, win our next game and that pressure can be lifted from us and put onto the likes of West Ham and Forrest in a big way. If we lose at home to Sunderland and both Forrest and West Ham win then it puts a lot more pressure back onto us.
The one important thing in our favor now is things are still in our own hands, if that changes then we can start to worry.
For now all is good, but we all know football can and will throw up unexpected results, it aint over yet, not by a long way.

I never take anything for granted with the 'run in'. Results rarely seem to go the way that they are expected to go.

Re: Relegation Thread.
I’m confident we’re safe but we’re looking at each of the next 10 games as winnable but the other teams are looking at them exactly the same. A win tomorrow will be a massive step towards safety though.

Yes but not because I think we aren’t good enough, it’s more that I don’t expect anything from Palace, Scum or possibly Spurs away - even if we were top six material.
If Spurs don’t win before they play us then it’s a dead cert they’ll beat us
I also have a feeling we’ll get sucker punched at home against someone but not sure who.
