We've been very poor last 2 games.

Where was the bravery and intensity from the Manure game?
Bravery and intensity are all subject to tactics.

Today Chelsea had the tactics and the players to beat us.
Manu we had the tactics and players to dominate their midfield and exploit theur makeshift defence.

Today our midfield was very poor which let to our central defenders making errors when they were pressed.
That said we had great chances to score and fluffed them.

There were many similarities to the two games.

Oh well, the dream is over. Enjoyed the journey overall, although an equaliser would have made for more excitement.

Chelsea players rolling around in agony to relieve themselves of pressure and vital minutes for Leeds, whatever next?

Aaronson needs to learn that you cannot give a dominant Chelsea any chance during a semi final when put clean through.

Lets get back to concentrating on the Premier League and leaping above Newcastle United.

What is a reasonable concern. Getting a good point away from home against a team that not only beat but were much better than Arsenal in their previous game. We have lost a cup game by a narrow margin. We weren’t great but Chelsea are a cup team. Look at there record over the last 10 years. They also dumped Rosenior which probably helped them.
We haven’t been in this position for nearly 30 years if we count our league cup run.

Lose against Burnley and I will be concerned. But right now ??

Imo we were braver vs Manure and played faster.

Chelsea played well but we helped them by being so cautious.

Chelsea have been poor recently (hence sacking Rosenior).

We still played with fear imo same as vs Bournemouth.

If ever was a game to go for it this was it.

First half outnumbered in midfield and didn't get started.

Subs at halftime corrected this and good start to the 2nd half until the keeper went down and they stopped the momentum, had a nice chat and changed some things. We never really got going again.

Yes, that's what gets it for me. I'd rather we lose 2-1 than 1-0 then at least the fans get to see a goal.

I lost count of the one to one battles we lost.
You can be brave all you like but if you dont have the ball or just keep running into traffic it is irrelevant.

That for me is about a gap in quality in the squads.

DCL made some great runs but Bogle found Cucclurella every time.

Only Guds could say he had a great game today.

Saying they lacked bravery is just an easy accusations to make. Impossible to disprove but easy to hide behind.

Imo.

I think people are forgetting the amount of quality in the Chelsea squad. Regardless of recent league form it is not an outlier for cup football.

They shithoused their way into world club cup.

Yes, they are a cup team. They and Citeh have all the big game players and winners. The likes of Arsenal don't beat them in cup games.

Like you say Chelsea are a cup team, a team for the big occasions. It is only a few months since they became world club whatevers. Their players are used to those sort of games whereas ours aren't.

1-0 and simply a case that they took 1 of their couple of opportuniteis and we missed ours. Not a great performance by us but equally not like Chelsea battered us.

Hopefully next season we get back there and go further and improve our league position too. All a case of building and will always be bumps along the way,
