Makes a very nice change to have a positive debate with 4-5 genuine contenders.
I voted Stach. Brought some polish and class to our midfield
Dcl next
Bijol 3rd

I think Stach would be the biggest loss if he left.

Calvert Lewin ,I have to admit when we signed him I wasn't too happy but he's had a great season

A lot of our signings, and manager, were written off before they had chance to acclimatise. It takes time, just look at how long it took Okafor to sparkle, and I don't think Justin got much of a look in till about halfway through the season.foxy wrote: ↑Wed May 20, 2026 8:21 pm Stach brings quality to an area of the team where we are lacking so that swung it for me. Our overall recruitment proved better than many of us thought though I still think we were fortunate generally with injuries particularly to those like DCL, nmecha and okafor with questionable history. We have scope to strengthen in the summer without disrupting the spine and spirit of the team to continue to push on towards the top half.

Incredibly tough decision.
DCL for me precisely because nobody rated him at all. Anyone could have had him for nothing and Leeds were the only takers. All Calvert-Lewin did was wind up the fifth-leading scorer in the EPL (with one game remaining).
Bijol, Stach, and Justin all outstanding, but the recruitment team did a fantastic job with all these signings. Every one of the six made significant contributions to the team's success, all for roughly seventy million pounds. That's a pittance in today's market.

Similar to Ampadu, Calvert-Lewin was irreplacable!John in Louisiana wrote: ↑Wed May 20, 2026 11:30 pm Incredibly tough decision.

15 goals is not to be sneezed at from a striker we sign for nothing with supposedly fitness problems.
It's not only his goals though, it's his tirelessly work off the ball. His two runs of endeavour, clever thought of mind & skills against Burnley & Brighton are proof of the pudding what a top striker DCL is.....an exceptional signing.
A leader on the pitch & in the dressing room, a genuinely nice bloke too.
How much is Dominic worth now, still in his prime at the age of 29?

By whom?Victor_Notts-17 wrote: ↑Wed May 20, 2026 3:50 pm Okafor shouldn't be on there (for me). I went for Bijol as I said he'd be a brilliant signng and, again, I was berated and ridiculed by some for it. He is phkn SOLID! No nonsense shick brithouse (which I said we needed more than once over the years). I also think Bornauw is a solid signing but he has not had the game time to settle/develope. He's a better player than we have seen.
In real terms, Stach is our best signing but I've plumped for Bijol as he is the kind of player I like: a lot...
I don't ever recall you being "berated and ridiculed" by anyone.

I don't think DCL was irreplaceable at all ... and no proof that's the case

He cost us nothing.
Scored 15 goals.
Strikers are priceless in the PL, a goalscorer with 15 goals on his CV would cost £50 million plus.
Along with Haaland & Thiago, DCL has been in my Fantasy League Team, sod the pretenders.
Worked his bollocks off.
He doesn't cheat like some of knobhead PL strikers.
30 starts & 8 sub appearances, after the whole football world insisted he was injury-prone.
A leader on the pitch & in the dressing-room.
A genuinely nice bloke.
Where would we have been without his goals & presence?

Well you remember you were "berated and ridiculed" so surely you would remember who did this.Victor_Notts-17 wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2026 11:50 am How would I remember? Are you saying I made it up? If I say it happened: it happened

It didn't happen unless you can prove otherwise. I suggest looking back through the Jaka Bijol thread when we signed him.
I have, you're not even on there.

I know you don't, as you rate Piroe as highly as Calvert-Lewin.The Subhuman wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2026 10:23 am I don't think DCL was irreplaceable at all ... and no proof that's the case
You are in a minority, but with all due respect you like it that way, Faaip.

I think this season proved no one is irreplaceable. We replaced Rodon, Ampadu, Stach, Aaronson, Gudds, Bijol only played half the time and even Struijk wasn't missed end of season.
Had DCL got injured I think we could have replaced him too.

I get your gist with those you have mentioned, apart from oneThe Subhuman wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2026 2:59 pm I think this season proved no one is irreplaceable. We replaced Rodon, Ampadu, Stach, Aaronson, Gudds, Bijol only played half the time and even Struijk wasn't missed end of season.

Who replaced Ampadu who has started 38 games & 1 sub appearance vs Birmingham at half-time, as we were all over the shop without our captain?

Justin for me, can play in different positions and has chipped in with a few goals too.
DCL a close second
