So we shouldn't expect much in the signings department then.

A PL Leeds United should be self sustainable tbh (as should any club getting PL TV money really). We aren't a sugar daddy club reliant on wealthy owners.

"Players will arrive and depart"

Bit of both then.

I thought the statement was balanced, a little bit for everyone.

It’s a straightforward statement with nothing in there we wouldn’t expect - facts are there are limits to what we can spend and player sales are a must and not just fringe players - we need to show that we can sell high and recruit low.

Already seeing reports about interest in Struijk, nearly into the last year of his contract, will be after a pay rise and potentially European football - he’s an easy one for the club to cash in on as a sale would be all profit and as highly as I rate him I don’t think he will be seen as irreplaceable.

He was massively backed in the Championship and given over £100mil last summer.

They showed patience with him a few times as well when many owners wouldn't.

Surely better for him to try again with us than risk his reputation elsewhere?
A question for you Cjay...Regarding Leeds Utd what do the board have to do to make you truly happy? This last season I'm not sure I've seen a happy Cjay at all. League position, Cup run. What would it take to stop you moaning about our club and particularly our manager :duno:

What's moaning about that Swannie?

The owners have shown DF a lot of faith, money and patience (I'm actually giving the owners credit)

DF has rewarded them for It by getting us promoted and keeping us up.

He doesn't get that opportunity if it wasn't for the owners money and patience.

If they decide to mutually part that's fine.

If they decide to mutually go forward together that's fine.

If DF leaves because the owners won't let the tail wag the dog I think that would be ungrateful on his part.

Tend to agree.

I really like Farke, always stuck by him on here, but he isn’t bigger than the club and a manager having overall control ain’t happening these days.

Hopefully, it’s all ironed out (which I think it will be) and we move forward over the next few seasons, slowly progressing.

I think you're all adding 1 and 1 and getting 3.
Paraag's statement was pretty straightforward and - for me - what I was hoping for.
No fireworks i.e. no huge changes.

Next season is one of consolidation and security. I said before, the objective should be 53 to 55 points.

Of course there will be players leave as new ones come in. The new squad cost ratio will dictate thay.

The 49ers focusing on exit is nothing but click bait, just like the "Farke is leaving" nonsense.

Now why doesnt everyone just put the kettle on, have a nice cup of tea and relax. This last season was cause for celebration - right from summer recruitment onwards.

Exactly the same as season 2 was last time. Season 1 spend 100M plus on quality (Raph, Rodrigo, Koch, Llorente etc, season two consolidate.

Which turned out with us "not doing enough in the summer"

I'd like to see us reverse that this time. Get the quality in this time. We only really added Stach, the rest all look solid rotational players at best to me.

I'd like to see Farke get players he wants this time, don't think that happened last time bar maybe Stach and Gudds who was a like for like replacement of Firpo.

No one knows what kind of budget we have this summer. But one thing is for certain it would be stupid to advertise that the club has anything more than a moderate transfer budget.

Our second season in the PL last time can hardly be defined as consolidation. We had an owner who was too busy trying to mortgage Elland Rd for his Italian purchase. It was very poor leadership from the board room - including firing Bielsa and bringing on a moron in the form of Marsch - again - hardly consolidation.
Stach, Bijol, Justin, Nmecha, Bornaauw, DCL, Okafor, Gudmundsson have been excellent acquisitions and at great value.

The last thing we need to do now is go and spent 50million on some big ego player who simply disrupts one of the most cohesive dressing rooms in the league.
We need to bring in 4 to 5 players in key roles - goalkeeper, full back, attacking midfielder, striker - as examples. But I am hoping they will be the sort of players like those I mentioned who we acquired last summer.

That would be consolidation and that is very much what I heard in Paraag's message.

I agree with you in the main. Except, based on last season, to improve in the striking department need to recruit a striker who’s in the top 5 in the league. That could cost £30-50m. There’s not many top number 10s around for <£35m.

Brighton paid us £40m for Rutter, so if we want someone better than him …

Considering DCL was a massive increase in our striking threat and he was free - Im not sure if it about the money.

Like I said, the risk is we hire some star or starlet who comes in with an ego and wants the ball put on his foot in a specific area and doesnt feel he needs to defend - no thanks.

I have no doubt the manager has a profile in mind and has beiefed the scouting team. I'll trust in that for now

If DF leaves because the owners won't let the tail wag the dog I think that would be ungrateful on his part.

How do you come up with these ideas.

1. The tail waging the dog... it paints Farke as insignificant, someone who thinks he has authority when he has none. Put him back in his place it is pure insolence to think he should have any say in how this club is run.

2. Ungrateful... that Farke is a whiner a moaner, all those folks who see him as humble have been hoodwinked, he has pulled the wool over their eyes, ungrateful failure that he is.

The depth of your hate for Farke is unfathomable. I suppose it is because he has succeeded, and has dashed all of your wild negative predictions to smithereens.

It must be galling to be so wrong about him. Your last throw of the dice is that the 49ers will get rid of him because he wants some say in transfers and what is best for the team.

Dont think it will be his last throw of the dice.

No plan B has Cjay.

We didn't consolidate though. Kinnear bragged that we didn't need any signings as we'd signed them last summer. We replaced Alioski with Firpo and signed Harrison permanently, and that was our business... until we panic bought Dan James on deadline day for a grossly over inflated fee as we got off to a bad start.

What we're asking for this time around is to add to the squad and get rid of the deadwood clogging up the wage bill. Not spend £300m or sell all our best players and replace with cheap ones. We need about four first XI signings.

The main thing I'm concerned about is Farke trying to change the style of play, which reading between the lines, he very much wants to.

Considering JSL was £50m, a top striker would cost double that.

I'm not sure there are any 'great' strikers these days, except the obvious ones like Haaland, Kane, Mbappe. Newcastle spent a lot of money on average players like Woltemade and Wissa and Palace spent £50m on JSL, scum spent £80m on Sesko. Norwich wanted £25m for Sargent. It's very easy to get hoodwinked. Most strikers are not value for money. We have a hidden gem who would be worth more than that if we gave him a chance next season.
