Good Morning. It's Tuesday 16th June, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road...
Blades leading race for Harry Gray loan deal
Sheffield United are emerging as the frontrunners to secure Harry Gray on loan from Leeds, with the Blades' recruitment department intensifying talks ahead of their 2026-27 Championship campaign. The soon to be 18yo striker enjoyed a fruitful half-season at Rotherham United, where he scored three goals and adapted to the physical demands of senior football. Leeds manager Daniel Farke now believes the time is right to test Gray at a higher level, and Bramall Lane has surfaced as the most likely destination.
"Sheffield United is a club that can provide the right balance of competitive pressure and development space," a source close to the negotiations explained. "Harry would be playing in a side that expects to challenge for promotion, but the coaching staff are keen to give a young striker the freedom to express himself." The Blades' interest has been building since the turn of the year, and a move to Bramall Lane would keep the teenager close to his family in Yorkshire while offering him a platform at a promotion chasing club with the technical infrastructure to nurture raw talent.
However, Sheffield United face competition. Derby County and Swansea City have both monitored Gray since January 2026, while League One side Charlton Athletic (who have been chasing his signature since January) continue to push for a loan, viewing him as a potential primary goal scorer who could fire them toward a play-off push. For Leeds, the decision rests on finding the optimal blend of challenge and opportunity. Farke has made clear that Gray will not feature regularly in the Premier League next season, making a loan move essential for his development.
There will be some familiar faces, should his move to the Steel City materialise. Leo Hjelde, Patrick Bamford, Joe Rothwell, Jamie Shackleton, and maybe even Kalvin Phillips are former team mates of his, making settling in to a new club that much easier.

Manchester Utd favourites to land Darlow
Karl Darlow finds himself at the centre of a transfer battle between staying at Leeds, or joining Manchester Utd. The 35-year-old Wales international goalkeeper is set to become a highly coveted free agent later this month as his contract at Leeds United expires, sparking significant interest from multiple interested parties.
Manchester United have emerged as the leading candidate to secure Darlow's signature. According to reports from The Athletic, the Red Devils are heavily weighing up an approach to bring in the experienced shot-stopper as their reliable No. 2 backup goalkeeper. With the club preparing for the departure of Altay Bayindir, Manchester United are seeking a homegrown keeper to sit behind first-choice shot-stopper Senne Lammens, making Darlow an ideal fit for the role.
However, Leeds United remain determined to retain their man. Manager Daniel Farke is desperate to keep Darlow after his standout performances in the second half of the season proved instrumental in guiding the club to Premier League safety. The club has officially confirmed that contract extension negotiations are ongoing as they fight tooth and nail to secure his continued presence at Elland Road.
Tottenham Hotspur also get a mention, but for now at-least looks like a battle between Leeds and the red side of Manchester. The coming weeks will prove crucial as Darlow weighs his options, with the veteran keeper spoilt for choice between staying at Leeds or pursuing a new challenge over the Pennines.

Hull City Close in on Czech Keeper as Leeds concentrate on Pope
Hull City are poised to secure the signing of Braga goalkeeper Lukas Hornicek, with the Tigers reportedly close to agreeing a £12.5 million deal plus add-ons for the Czech shot-stopper.
The 23-year-old has caught the eye of several clubs this summer and is currently representing the Czech Republic at the World Cup as part of their goalkeeping stable. While Leeds United were also credited with interest in Hornicek in recent weeks, Hull City appear to have won the race for his signature as they look to strengthen their last line of defence.
The move comes amid further transfer speculation at Elland Road, where Leeds United are eyeing a summer swoop for Nick Pope. The 34-year-old Newcastle United goalkeeper has been told he is not part of the Magpies' plans for the forthcoming season and has attracted interest from both Leeds and his boyhood club Ipswich Town.
Transfer expert and former Everton and Aston Villa CEO Keith Wyness believes Leeds are well-placed to land the England international but must first address their current goalkeeping options. "Leeds are favourites to sign Pope, but I think they're going to have to sell Lucas Perri, who hasn't been a great success," Wyness explained. "There is interest for Ipswich, and that's close, but I do expect him to end up at Leeds." The potential arrival of Pope would represent a significant coup for Leeds as they look to establish themselves in the top flight following their relegation battle last season.
