Just two teams going for it. One of the best games of the tournament. ⚽ ⚽ ⚽
Great game, two even teams ... tournament starts today..

100%, just showed numerous replays of ITV and even Neville said he got a touch which you can clearly see but then says "I still think it's a penalty ", how? if he got a touch before making contact with the Brazilian then it can't be a penalty, the touch helped take it out of play regardless of what happens in the resulting clash

Its one thing appealing a red card in a league situation, its another in a knockout tournament. Belgium should demand a review. Cjay is right - FIFA are simply bowing to pressure.
The ref made a decision on the spot. Gone are the days when that actually meant something. Like it or not.

I can't believe some are saying its the right decision- its clearly NOT.

Wrong decision to send him off, but wrong decision to re-instate him for the next game...

Totally agree Ron. It is NOT the right decision.
There is no way this player should be playing in the next match.

If the ref made the wrong decision, you complain, but you live with it. How many times have we seen that - from Maradona's hand of god to many, many others.

Germany were robbed of a goal that couldve won the game. Croatia were clearly robbed of a goal in the game that knocked them out. No sudden Article number xx being appkied there by FIFA. The teams cplained but know its part of the game.

Nonsense.

Yep, whether the sending off was right or not is of no consequence to whats happened since.

Would people be saying he shouldn't have been sent off if the blokes ankle had snapped ? It wasn't far off doing that.

No, VAR made an intervention.

I was one of those, but now after thinking about it I'm admitting I was wrong, rules are rules and now they are bending them to suit someone's agenda

If an England player got a wrong straight red he'd not have been given a second chance as it's against FIFA rules

That's a bad miss but what a pass from Vini, almost Piroe-esque

Regardless. The ref made the decision to show a red card.
Thats it period - wrong or right. Its a very slippery slope if we go down that road.

He should not be playing in the next game.

Lightning concern. Should hopefully be OK by kick off time.

Whether Baloguns card was right or wrong is a matter of opinion. But your right , no second chance for an England player.
Not sure Starmer phoning Infantino would carry much weight :roflmao:

Yep the ref can ignore VAR and stick with an original decision and that has happened in English football.

Infantino bent over and created a fake Peace prize for Trump and is allowing him to present the World Cup.

It wouldn't take Trump directly to influence him, one of his minions would be enough.

I thought the decision was harsh. Only because I don't think it was an intentional foul. Or even that Balogun knew anything about it. For me it was just two players going hard. But I was happy to live with the Red Card because it could have been a really bad injury. Players need to be held responsible for dangerous play. And that's just the way it goes. So I am surprised that it has been overturned.
