Was curious about Mateo so watched the Betis vs Mallorca game till he went off.

He didn't do much has to he said.

But also has to he said he was

1) playing right wing

2) Mallorca are awful.

And 3
If reports in Spain recently are to be believed he could have been playing for Betis who are an infinitely better team and under a much better manager.

But we asked for too much money.

He's been subtlety quite critical of Farke (as has Cresswell recently) so why not sell I suppose for psr profit if we are close?

Problem with that is if we sell and then Farke gets sacked a month later, what's to say the new man wouldn't give him a chance, that's the issue with managers taking a dislike to certain players

I saw most of it too, looked to be playing in a two/three up front sort of playing off Mariqui rather than pure right wing.

Mallorca fell apart in 5 first half minutes, defensively poor they went from competeing in a 1-0 game to 3-0 before they could blink and game over after 35

So are you now criticising the club for not allowing Betis to rinse us again. I am glad we did not sell him to Betis, by all accounts they wanted him on the cheap as per.

He wanted mins, he is getting mins. Players can learn just as much through adversity.

Was a question not a criticism, I didn't want Joseph sold either.

But, Lots of Premier league clubs have sold young players they didn't want to for PSR reasons to enable purchases.

Joseph doesn't want to play under Farke again so would that not have been something we could have done in able to bring in more current needs.

The club have made it clear that they did not want to sell Joseph as they see significant growth/potential. I am not sure whether the suggestion Joseph does not want to play under Farke again has any basis of truth ?

The relationship is probably strained based upon what happened pre-season etc,

Betis have been having our trousers down for years and I'm delighted that we told them to stump up or f**k off. Hopefully it will mean they don't come back for our players in future unless they bring their wallet with them.

Been a few articles in Spain, some interviews.

Obviously Joseph never said outright "I hate Daniel Farke".

But his frustration was very evident.

Spanish media themselves have basically said "sources close to the player" which is usually media speak for agents to say similar.

I can't see Joseph wanting to work with Farke again hence why he was pushing to be sold.

Not sure we will be getting much interest in Joseph in the summer. Struggling for game time in Mallorca as he has struggled to make much impact when on the pitch.

Massively underwhelming from what I have seen.

I think he will be back at the turn of the year so not anytime soon. Then you wonder how long it'll be before he's match fit considering he won't be getting minutes on the pitch. My best guess is that he'll go out on loan in the January window

Torn anterior cruciate in April then operation. This normally takes a year to recover from. This type of injury is most common in American football and Michael Penix did his in November last year, he's not yet fit enough to play sport yet (and he's a QB) and tbh I'm not expecting him back till November.. My guess is Mateo is back close to full fitness for the 27/8 season, even when he's fit to play he's gonna need a month or two to get back to full speed and then it's learning to trust the repair and getting back to match fitness..

Who knows, I liked what I saw initially. He may well have matured mentally and have a different perspective, we shall see.
