Agree with all this. We also wasted weeks on Shea Charles, when we were never going to pay £30m, and was an unneeded position anyway. We should've been signing a playmaker. I wasn't a fan of signing Wilson and not been impressed so far, but still early days.

Exactly SG, Shea Charles is a good player no doubt but hasn't done much, a lot of time wasted as you say.

I agree on Wilson, why are we going for wingers when we don't play them most of the time ..... James/Gnonto.... How many minutes did they get last year? Gnonto was ace when played and still didn't get a look in. Need a cm creator..... Obvious to see.

Get rid of whoever is head of tmrecruitment they're dogs yet again....

Trafford: Excellent signing. Top player. Just wow. But a bit rich for our pockets?

Muhamedovic: Great signing but way overpriced.... Club president said he was expecting to get 20 million.

Wilson: Free, 29..... Great season last year but tailed off, winger by trade, we don't play wingers.... Drifted wide to good areas, early days and good on a free but unsure he's the ideal forward signing for our system.

Elvedi: Top tier defender and leader, like for like cover on right cb/centre cb of a 3.

Meslier, Darlow, Perri - Replaced by Trafford..... Brilliant upgrade but how the hell the 49'rs are still in business is beyond me. Darlow let go on a free.... Great season last year. Meslier let go on a free turned down 25 million 4 years ago when he had the same issues leading to him eventually getting dropped.... Perri out for 10 million a year after buying for 16 million. Ohhh and we have no second keeper as yet so a better 11 but weaker depth right now.

Struijk.... Sold for 20 million, Muhamedovic replaced for 35, we'll miss his forward passing from the back. Not a huge fan of his defending and concentration but did improve massively on that front last year. Think Muhamedovic was expensive but will be better in time.

Bornauw.... Solid player did really well when played despite injuries... Let go on loan again will run down contract and go for free. Worth a few quid I'd expect. Elvedi is a big upgrade no doubt.

Piroe..... Championships leading goal scorer last year after promotion.... Let go on loan . Didn't play at all. Will run down his contract and go for nothing next year as west ham won't sign him when promoted. No obligation to buy. Ohhh no replacement striker as yet..... One injury we're in the s**t.

Gelhardt..... Got more than I thought we would for 7 million. Good deal....

At present IMO to give us some limited depth and rotation I'd say we need a left back, starting CAM and 10 (none chasing contract Aarronsson upgrade), a Darlow type approaching end of career keeper and a starting level Striker.

Ideally I'd like cover for Stach as we struggled when he got injured but were already kind of there points wise.

Lot of work to do in less than a week.

In terms of what we paid sometimes it is worth paying the extra to make sure you get the player. I have made the point before about Tottenham under Levy basically being reknowned for never paying over the odds - but what trophies did that get them? Sometimes you need to pay over the odds to get the player that can make the difference. Whilst other keepers may be cheaper and decent if you get the best keeper it can make a huge difference. Do Man U win as much as they did without Schmeichel? I remember him almost singlehandedly denying Newcastle in the season when Newcastle blew the big lead and lost the title to MU - people go on about the Keegan meltdown but the title was lost in the 1-0 defeat to MU. Newcastle battered them but lost 1-0.

So if we paid more than the 'value' for Trafford and Tarik then so be it if they turn out to be worth it. Maybe we stole in and got Tarik before a bidding war could emerge. Maybe by paying more we were able to get him and get him early rather than if we wasted time negotiating then someone else jumps in and gets him.

I wish we would buy a top striker,easier said than done I know but we just seem to be focusing on the defence.

Back-up keeper - though if we don't get one and simply retain Perri then hopefully it wouldn't be too disastrous if Trafford got injured. Though we would be hugely weakened would a different back-up keeper be that mush better than Perri?

So for me if the window slams shut and we haven't brought anyone else in I am fairly relaxed about it. Obviously huge injury problems can happen but barring that we should have the squad to cope with a regular amount of injuries. We then have money in the bank for January if we do have a real need (i.e. if DCL was out for the rest of the season).

More than anything, we need another striker and a no 2 keeper.
If DCL gets a long term injury after the window closes and we haven't bought anyone, we are screwed. Nmecha does okay to a point but his control and hold up play is woeful at times.
The same goes for a keeper unless Perri ends up staying. He isn't great but he's better than Cairns.

We massively lack creativity in open play.

Can't rely on long throws and corners or Stach scoring a worldie all season.

Definitely atleast 1 creative player short if not 2 imo.

Suspiciously quiet on the transfer front right now. I suspect there's activity in the background, but with whom it is hard to say, and certainly nothing to get the juices flowing. Paixao was an interesting one, but seems Sunderland did what they did to us all last season's window and offered the selling club 1 quid more and the player 50p more than we were willing to. Mudryk I feel we're getting bent over by Chelsea. Zetterer is an all-round odd saga, and that Danish striker doesn't seem like the prolific type.

Although I think the club have done excellent business with Tarik, Wilson, and Trafford, we absolutely need another decent striker, LB cover, a backup goalie (if Perri is to go- I'm happy for him to stay), and a #10/ creative attacking mid. Doubt we will get all that, but surely two of those positions minimum? Could be that Leinou is going to be LB cover after Justin if he is needed elsewhere.

Im not sure what you expect us to do this window but If you rest your hopes on Noah being replaced you will be disappointed again.

He is strong, direct and has a goal or two in him.

Okafor = match winner , how many games did he play last season, how many really good performances did he achieve, how many goals did he score, how many games did he miss through injury

Most advanced players suffer from that though,even the elite players have ups and downs, and look at the massive fees being thrown around, and I reckon we have a decent player for the money we paid. He had a decent PL debut and who knows what he could produce this time around?

There will come a time when we will want to improve his position but for now methinks we need strength in other areas.
