Stop just going of what AI has said - I'm guessing you still haven't watched the video that you posted? I saw no evidence that he was bad at the basics, and to the contrary he actually looked to have good keeper instincts, positioning etc.Cjay wrote: ↑Fri Aug 28, 2026 6:48 pm Consensus is the only difference between that and this bloke is his kicking may be a bit better.
Feel sorry for Perri myself, do think is a good player in him given time (which he wasn't given).
Not sure this bloke is an improvement from what I've read (reserve judgement of course)
Basically forced out by Frankfurt and we threw him a few extra £ to convince him.
Weird all round imo.
A goalie whose weakest area is stopping goals.
Our persistence especially given the club go on about players only wanted if they want to be here.
Strange but it's something atleast, a squad place filled.
And it is those keeper instincts which is what I see lacking in Perri, and as pointed out at the age of 28 I don't think time is a certainity to iron them out. I believe Perri became a keeper late on and for me that shows. Position, reading of the game is just off.
I may be cursing James Trafford now but watch how he is continually moving, little half steps at times, unnoticable unless you watch but so that he is in the right position. By doing that you then make routine saves rather than being a yard too far accross and having to make a full length 'worldie' save or be grasping at thin air as the ball goes past your outstrecthed hand.
Those little movements don't show up in the stats, if anything they probably damge a keeper stats xg wise as the keeper then makes routine saves and the chacnes are marked down cos they look like easy saves - the goalkeeper with poor positional sense makes the same save but by having to dive full length the save looks harder and the xga is marked as higher.
You could probably make a better highlights reel for a keeper like Perri than you could for Trafford but I know which one I'd rather have.
