Very true. My hope and expectation this season is survival without any squeaky bum moments.

Surely the club are actively seeking another forward?
If not, we are walking a very dangerous tightrope. An injury to DCL, Nmecha or both and we are in serious trouble without another option.
I understand the LB situation but it's not a priority in my opinion. Justin is adequate cover until GG returns.

It though also enhances our options at centreback which is perhaps more important than the left back cover. It frees James Justin up to provide cover there if needed and also, in an emergency, Bard could likely do a job there too. So if the deal is concluded we have 8 players for 5 (or 4) defender positions. Crucially though is the versatility as it has the effect of increasing it to 11 players - 2 rbs, 6cbs, 3lbs. It gives us depth but also gices the depth players the chance of starting a few matches and feeling valued.

It's the only one that has and as it's undewhelming and probably a long way down our list there's no surprise we didn't know about him earlier, I doubt our transfer team had much more notice...

Similar to Isaac Schmidt who came out of nowhere and for good reason. He wasn't very good for us. At least it's only a loan this time, not even sure he gets into the matchday 20

A lot of assumptions made there.
Equally he may well have been on our targetted list for a while - but having only become available recently our transfer team pounced having already done due diligence on him. Similar to hw NFL teams draw up their draft lists and have done research on every player it is likely our transfer team would have had his name somewhere on their list given that nowadys clubs have access to much more information about players all over the globe - and given he has been playing in France it is likely pretty reliable data that they would have on him.

I don't see why it is underwhelming. Pedigree stacks up, versatility stacks up, injury record (or lack of) stacks up. Seems a pretty steady signing conisdering that he is likely back-up - but who knows maybe he becomes more than that - not many rated James Justin.

Just seem some people like to grasp (or invent) any reason to knock the club.

He might turn into a dud but very doubtful the transfer team knew nothing about him or went for someone a long way down their list just to get a body in. Far more likely that his position on the list, whilst maybe not top was probably not a long way down

My problem is that we don't seem to be building as fast as others..... Like Gruev/Tanaka/Aarronsson.... All could have a part to play especially in terms of depth but I'd have expected at least one to have been moved on to be replaced with a definitively premier league player.

Quality rather than quantity. Ipswich seem to be following Forest's scattergun apporach of a few years back - which ultimately worked but nearly didn't.

Ipswich had a squad that was full of players that were not good enough for the prem 2 years ago. As such they needed to spend. We had a squad of players that were good enough for the prem and have improved it.

Despite what Ipswich have spent I would much rather have our squad and manager.
