From the YEP

“The club is also delighted to welcome Peter McCormick, who has resigned from his current roles at the Premier League and will be joining the club as Executive Vice Chairman.

“Bringing his experience as the former Chair of both the Premier League and Football Association, McCormick will support chairman Paraag Marathe and other senior executives regarding strategic planning, stadium redevelopment and commercial matters, and will represent the club in key meetings."

The YEP understands McCormick is not regarded as a replacement for Kinnear and the club will consider the senior leadership structure between now and the summer.

The lawyer, who has expertise in financial fair play and the owners and directors' tests, has chaired both the Premier League and Football Association.

He was previously a director at Leeds United and will represent Marathe at the likes of league meetings. His arrival is expected imminently.

I've never thought of him as a football man. He handles all the business stuff. Too many things to mention. But I think he has very little input on the football side. So this shouldn't really matter. There are plenty of CEO's around that could do the job. Player affairs, Director of Football etc takes more ingenuity and creativity. And that's harder to find the right person. But I don't see any issue replacing Kinnear. And we know that the 49ers will have access to a wide range of talented business candidates.

I'm glad he's gone, the last of the three stooges. All he did was try to destroy our badge and get us relegated. The 49ers with their contacts should be able to find someone a lot more competent.

On that note, well done Everton fans for blocking the move. Hopefully we do the same if/when the 49ers try to sell Harry. These foreign owners will never get it that fans want to see homegrown players at their club, not sold for profit.

Isnt there a point of discussion with Monaco here too? Slightly off topic of this thread but I dont want to start a new one.

They pulled the Camara to Chelsea deal at the last minute (echoes of Dan James/Swansea). Because they thought they'd sold Balogun. Then Balogun pulls out of his deal for personal reasons. Looks like Monaco got some egg on their face in this window too.

Worse than that, they really needed to sell one player and ended up selling nobody after crapping on Chelscum at the last minute for Camara.

They do though have the luxury of some other foreign markets being open so likely they will sell someone to Saudi - quite possibly in a 'convenient' deal to an owner they know.
