Thinking we may be staying with 5 at the back, Bard and DJ as the full backs with Tarik, Bijol and JJ as cbs.

Disagree. Its to integrate the new signings into the squad in the real world - a game against a top 6 opponent.
You cant just have a new signing come off the bench in a fast paced league game, having never experienced competitive football in the team.

We have far more dwpth in this squad than last year and we need to ensure they are competitive.

We know Chelsea are doing the same

This is how I think we'll line up today. Defensively, I would look for Aaronson to slide deeper into the center of midfield to form a 3-5-2. This has been a very common shape used by Daniel Farke. The question is, will it work?

Big concern is these injuries are piling up for James and his only asset is pace.

Loses that and he loses 80% of his usefulness

Would have liked to have seen Bahoya start and see what he is all about, but I guess playing two newbies on the left (Bard and Bahoya) was too much of a risk. I suspect we will see him come on at some stage unless we are protecting a lead.

Aaronson needs to do much more.

Last time he was in this role he really didn't do enough and we were outnumbered in midfield

See Melvin is starting. As we are in Nice at the mo I went into their club shop today and asked the assistant what he thought of Bard. He reckoned that he has really good games and also some not so good ones.

So lets hope he gets off on the right (sorry left) foot tonight against that lot.
