At the risk of repeating myself, I think the summer will be pivotal in terms of whether or not NW can put together a side/squad capable of mounting a serious promotion challenge. Looking to move on deadwood IS stating the obvious but most certainly needs to happen to free up some funds for new players, unless the bearded snake has a road to Damascus experience and actually backs the manager on something other than loans or freebies. Moving said deadwood is the challenge, one which that clown Harvey seems incapable of rising to. Interesting times ahead but, hey, isn't that half the fun of being a Leeds fan??
I haven't embraced Warnock as the saviour of LUFC (Silky please note ), but I do think that with the right backing or, more realistically, with some effective wheeling and dealing, he'll give us a great chance at promotion next season. I'm not writing off this season but it's a big ask. MOT!!!

Warnock's got 2 points from 9, and there is every possibility that after Sunday, away at a top 6 club, it will be 2 from 12....
So then, again, people will say it's down to Bates...
... but if it's all down to Bates..... why has Simon got the boot? if it's about Bates now, why wasn't it then?
.... i wanted a new manager, didn't care who it was, because i thought the confidence boost that a new manager would give us would kick us on to the play-offs, but so far that hasn't happened... and that is what worries me.
It means he's loyal to the old blunts fan that's been with us for a few weeks and hasn't managed a goal yet, but not loyal to the Leeds fan that was with us for 3 years and brought us success.

Fair point Silky, but there was only ever going to be one person leaving when results went south and the natives got restless, and it wasn't going to be Bates. We're stuck with the old cnut until he decides otherwise. I think, and it is only my view, that Warnock's record suggests he can drag more out of a cheaply assembled squad than perhaps Simon could. That said, a blind man on a galloping horse could see that this squad is short of enough quality to make us genuine contenders. Barring a epic end to this season, the summer is going to be crucial in terms of shaping the short to medium term future of our club. Show some ambition and I firmly believe we're going places, f**k about like previous form suggests, and we'll be languishing in this division, if we're lucky, for years to come. MOT!!!

My plan for guaranteed promotion from the Championship
Attempt 1 - Take a cheaply assembled side that has just been promoted from League 1. Get rid of the leading goalscorer, who moves to the premiership, for nothing and have the season's player of the year injured for the year and then give the manager about £500k to make signings.
Attempt 2 - Having completely failed to get promoted (failing by a single point), and aware that it was a defence made up of cheap cast offs that seemed the weakest link, get rid of 2 regular midfielders and sell the previous season's player of the year and keeper whilst investing £200k of the incoming transfer fees. If still within touching distance of promotion halfway thrrough the season sell the captain.

Best managers don't allow themselves to become victims. They either deliver or walk.
You've got to realise how many players SG had that were nowhere near the first team. I hate Bates as much as anyone, but it's hardly unreasonable to expect a manager to move a few players on before bringing new ones in..... and let's be honest, as well as he did his record in the market was abysmal.
Stacks of pointless loan signings - Livermore, Keogh etc, and some awful permanent signings - Paynter, Rachubka etc.
Warnock has to sift through that and decide which ones need to be shifted and which ones can be of use next term.
Aside from that, our defending was beyond brutal. We could be 6-0 up with ten minutes left and you'd still be chewing your fingers off. 4-1 up against a crappy Preston side - lost. 2-0 up and cruising against Brighton - needed a last minute equaliser to grab a point. Etc etc etc.
The same crap defenders have turned the form book on it's head and actually resemble professional footballers. Not sure what coaching they were getting under the old regime but under this one O'Dea looks half decent, something I never thought possible.
I like Warnock, always have, but he's at least saying the right things. Sort the defence out, reduce the size of the squad and make us a more solid unit.
I was speaking to someone a couple of weeks ago who is a big cheese with the Blades. Asked me what I thought of Warnocks appointment and said that he is the best motivator of players he has ever seen. Have to agree he seems to be getting more out of our squad then Simon did. Even the defence seem to know whats expected of them. Long may it continue.
