I would love to know where some of you get the impression that our players are so special :duno:

Bates & Warnock have made the correct decision on AC

I'd have been even more ruthless !
probably same place as you get the impression that NW is a good manager ;)

if he is transfer listed because he asked for 15K I agree with the decision.

And i agree Warnock has got a hell of a job on, he's inherited a bunch of half-hearted not good enough losers !

NO player shuld be on 15K in this division. Clayton still has tings to learn, but he has the talent to be a good box to box midfielder. He just needs more players with movement around him, to open up the space

I must admit to being surprised about the transfer listing of Adam Clayton, I thought he was a cert for retention! Having said that, he hasn't been the same without Jonny alongside him, and has never recovered his early season form.
I still think he could have done a job for us, but not for 15K!

You would have shot him?

Do you know that Clayton asked for a big wage increase or have you assumed ?

Having criticised just about every player for letting him down he could hardly retain them could he

Nice one Twiggs, thanks - I think NW explained he's decision perfectly !
I am with the club on this one !! Clayton obviously thinks he is as good as Snoddy by wanting same deal !!
I thought he looked good early on in the season but faded very badly from Xmas onwards.

The good thing about the clip is that it puts an end to the nonsense about Larry signing players he didn't want because Williams etc forced his hand. The manager is clearly in control and aways has been.

Clayton has denied asking for 15k on his Twitter account . Could it be White that has asked for that amount ? Whoever it was aint worth it based on the ineptness of the last 12 months

It is quite unbelievable that any of our current crop of players have the adacity to ask for a significant salary increase after their feeble performances/poor contribution throughout the season consequently finishing 14th in the championship

Clayton certainly isn't crap. He is a decent player who will improve.

However, his performances in the last half of the season certainly do not warrant a pay rise and if he has asked for too much money then I support NW's decision.

My view on the transfer listing of Clayton is that it is, having listened to the YR interview, perhaps a clever bit of bluff from Warnock. Few weeks back Clayton's in the YEP waxing lyrical about how he wants to stay and be part of the 'revolution'. For me, Warnock has now said, 'ok prove it. Cos you ain't worth what you/you're agent is demanding, but if you go away and wise the fupp up and come back with a realistic figure that reflects the fact that you've had a marginally above average season, then maybe we can talk turkey.' :duno:

And as for White, there's no way he's worth 15k a week. Pacey, but not much else, certainly not yet. As my dad would say, if you left the stadium gates open, he'd run on out into the car park!

Without knowing the facts of what Clayton has asked for it is hard to judge. Likely though that he wasn't on a huge contract as we signed him as a Man City reserve player that had come through the youth ranks so he was unlikely to have been on a big wage there. As such he is perfectly entitled to ask for more having gone from a basic unknown to a regular first team starter and whilst he may have been inconsistent people need to look at the fact it was his first full season of playing at this level - in fact first full season at any level as he had only been a bit part loan player before this season.

I hope he stays but get the impression that Bates may well have told NW that he needs to generate funds and as such Clayton and Snodgrass are realistically the only ones who would command decent fees (Lonerghan, Becchio, McCormack and Lees are likely the only others we would get fees for but probably not much). Wouldn't be surprised if the club hadn't already accepted a transfer bid already for him.

Let him go, very hit and miss.

And with the transfer fee we can get some new waiters for the boxes in the East Stand

:roflmao: Brilliant!! As for Clayton, WTF was my immediate reaction. However, having listened to the interview on YR, transfer listing him may simply be a negotiating tactic, :duno: His form was distinctly patchy over the season, but there's definitely some potential there. But, as someone else posted earlier, can we afford to 'carry' potential if the aim is to go all out for promotion? Not sure it's the last we've heard on this on
