You keep harping back to that Jo, but he has had ample possibilities to do so since he took over. He will suck every penny he can out of us and ridding us out of the FL would stop that income.
He will sell when the price is right and he finds a big enough mug to take us over, whilst keeping his money flow income going from our club.

Marko your ignorance at times is astounding. Please show me where I have said that the costs are justified for Bates's petty vendettas apart from my fishing expedition which snared you?

I have said Bates has a probable right to pursue the £194,000 owed to Leeds. I don't know the ins and outs of that case so cannot possibly say whether he is in the right or not. Time will tell. Unfortunately as many people will know when pursuing legal matters you can end up spending most (sometimes all or more) of the money you hope to gain - just ask anyone who has gone through a lengthy divorce case where couples usually end up bickering over how to split their money and both end up with considerably less than a 50/50 share and the only winners are the lawyers.

Now having the right to pursue the claim and the way he has gone about it are two entirely different subjects. I don't for one minute condone the way he has gone about it with the vendetta thing. I do condone him pursuing the claim (and it was in the pursuit of the claim that has needlessly led to the vendetta stuff).

I do claim that Bates is a good businessman, not a great one by any means and yes I accept he wastes a lot of money. The trouble is though that despite the wastage he must be a reasonably good businessman to have made the money he has and to be able to squander it - regardless of whether it is his or the club's (as the club is his then either way the money is his).

I just fail to see how you can argue that Bates isn't a good businessman when he owns a football club and a penthouse in Monaco. He wastes money but he makes a sh*tload more. He earns more than probably 99.9% of the population earns.

Is he good for the club? Now that is the real question you should be asking. Now that would be a better topic for debate. For the record I think short term he is and if he sells us to someone who can take us forward then I will thank him for his efforts knowing that he has made millions. He has used his shady practises and expertise in this sort of operation to right the ship and put us back on the right course making us an attractive proposition for buyers.

The trouble is Marko you see everything as black and white and it isn't. Most of this is a very murky shade of grey.
Football players earn more than 99% of the population but I wouldn't trust them to run a bath. Having money and being a good businessman are not the same thing. He's a hustler and nothing more.

Good businessmen don't waste company money on personal vendettas that they started.

You've failed to give any reasons for him being a good businessman other than "he has money so he must be", whereas I have frequently given plenty of reasons why he is a terrible one. Why argue when you don't have an argument?

Christ Almmighty. He makes money out of business - this means he is a good businessman. Yes some ventures have failed but overall he has made millions. Bought Chelsea for £1 sold for a fortune. He will sell Leeds for much more than he (or his associates) paid for it.

Is he a better businessman than the bloke running the sandwich shop who has never made a bad decision but barely scrapes a living? Yes he is. He identifies markets/opportunities and exploits them for his financial gain.

How anyone can accuse someone who has made millions out of business as not being a good businessman is truly mindblowing.

Apparently we dont have any money to buy players, even less now with this. We keep missing out on targets and now there is talk again of Warnock resigning as he has come back off his hols to find the players he wanted have either stopped at their respective clubs or gone elsewhere. Talk of our best players going elsewhere which means we could have an even worse squad than last season. He will see us relegated back to League 1 and then 2 and out of the League.

I feel its the fans he wants to get at, giving us false hope and then everything falls through. He must be laughing his socks off while on that boat in Monaco. He doesnt need any more money - we are his play thing - having a bit of fun before he dies doing exactly what he always said he would do.

Bates is a successful businessman - fact. The issue is whether he is or is not an ethical business man - probably scores poorly here [he's not alone in the big bad world of business]. Personally I'm sceptical about take overs and inward investment. Like all these things I will believe it when I see it and when I see it I will still assess our new owners objectively. There's every chance they will be worse than Bates. I am however excited by the prospect of Colin walking. A top owner and a new manager is the dream ticket. If only one goes - bye bye Colin would suit. That LUST interview added nothing. As Lorimer said last week - patience is key. All else is pure speculation and rumour. Colin in the meantime needs to get on and manage - stop holidaying/talking/running down the players and do what he's paid to do. Build a team even if it's a team of home grown/frees. That's his job and he is allegedly very good at it.

Fact?

Wouldn't you judge being a good business man based on the success of the business you run. Chelse were debt ridden and unsuccessful when he was Chairman. Now he is at Leeds we could not be deemed to be successful and judging by the last accounts the books aren't looking great either. Without investment and the upfront season ticket money we would certainly have made a loss.

If you are judging his success as a business man on his own personal wealth and gains then maybe he is. That however isn't good for our football club.

We crossed - I altered good to successful. That's a fact.

Chelsea were winning trophies under Bates, had great managers and players and became attractive to Abramovitch as a result.

The Bates debate is sterile tbh. A certain section of fans were predisposed to hate him from day 1. When things go well they hold back. When things go less well they reappear. Bates has a difficult job. He doesn't make it any easier by shouting his mouth off but that doesn't alter the scale of the task. People forget what he bought - a pup. Like the fella at Everton he has insufficient personal funds to build the club some folk want. His business model may be flawed but it's his business model and it at least has some sense. The 'he should be spending model' offered as an alternative by many is just rhetoric. If it was easy to find investment the guy at Everton would have done it - he does not shout his mouth off/take everyone to court etc and is a blue nose through and through.

He's a successful business man. We are in a better place than he found us. He will leave at some point. The way out of the hole for me has always been finding the right manager. Crack that and we would be up and away - steadily of course.
