Great player was 'old super brat'..struggled with Borg though didn't he? a bit like Lendl struggled with Mcenroe

Re: Favourite tennis player past and present?
I quite like tennis and used to enjoy playing ( even though I was utter shite ) and got into it watching Wimbledon in 1971 . I started following an obscure American called Tom Gorman who got to the semi finals that year knocking out Rod Laver on the way . I also enjoyed watching John Newcombe play . A handsome devil and a real character . My mum thought he was wonderful . And I sort of half fell in love with Evonne Goolagong who won that year beating Margaret Court . She was a joy to watch . Gutted when she got married . Present day the three top guys are simply incredible , but somehow lack the charisma of McCenroe , Connors , Nastasie etc . The ladies game doesn't really interest me too much currently .

One of the best matches I ever watched was Borg v Vitas Geralitus in 1977 I think! Sadly Vitas is no longer with us - I believe drug abuse being his downfall - but Borg remains Mr Cool in my eyes.

I refuse to buy Borg underwear tho. What an embarrassement - "ooh look, he's wearing Bjorn Borgs boxer shorts"our lass wrote:One of the best matches I ever watched was Borg v Vitas Geralitus in 1977 I think! I thought Borg were really cool until spanked by Picard.
