As poor as our football has been, I think Peterborough, Bristol City and Ipswich are so bad that they will get relegated and if one of them should survive I reckon Charlton or Sheffield Wed will take their place.
I reckon we score too many goals - despite a couple of goalless games of late - and that will keep us up.

I disagree in part. Grayson was that manager. Grayson was to take us to the Premier League and to be honest, given the same backing Warnock has been given, no matter how little you claim it to be, he would have gone further imo.1964white wrote:
Bates has never employed a manager that is a long term prospect for success. Our managers take us so far then that's it....Warnock hasn't really got into gear
Gets Leeds promoted from League 1. Finish 7-8 in our first season up. We were in a decent position coming out of January last season, still in promo prospect. He got Hudders promoted in his first/half season. They are sitting on equal points with 6th and are doing alright in their first season up.
At least we could watch our team this time last year....

Think the main debate here is not who goes to games and who doesn't.1964white wrote:

My first game was in 1965 so I've seen the lot, - and believe me this current situation is heading right up there with the very worst we've had at this Club.
We are stuck in a time warp both from a footballing point of view and also commercially. Cripes, for my sins I live in Keighley, used to be loads of Leeds fans here (spookily enough Burnley still have a big following here). Until recently we had a JJB and a local sports shop, the once renouned Willis Walkers where every man and his dog would go and buy Leeds gear until Bates put the mockers on that. By the time the shop closed down, the shop window had Scum, Scouse, Chelski and any other Prem/ Cockney wide boy team shirts for todays Sky loving fans to drool over, - but no Leeds shirts thanks to Bates. Result, - a generation of fans lost.
We are obsessed with getting to the Prem asap, its not that simple anymore. The Champs is the most competitive League in the world and everything has to be right and in place to achieve the goal along with a bit of luck.
All I wish for at the moment is that we play some decent football and engage the community and support as the Rhino's have done. If Bates is to hang around until he shakes a 7, I suggest he gives Mr Hetherington a call at Headingley.

Kyle
I take your point regarding Grayson and Bates ticked the right boxes by employing him, upcoming young manager with a half decent (albeit short) track record.
Grayson fell short for a number of reasons, - no investment in the team (Bates take a bow), his appointment of a very poor no2, his PR and interview skills were poor and when under pressure he never came across as being confident and in control, and lastly - he took his eye off the ball so to speak which lead to unrest in the Club.
In time the 4th situation would have taken care of itself, would he have had the balls to replace Snodin and his backroom staff? - debatable. Alas the first point was the major contributing factor and to an extent, out of his hands. Did he have the faith to start again with the young players - Lees, Thompson etc and build a new team?
We'll never know now of course.

Larry did well at Leeds but i insist he achieved the maximum limit he could in his role at ER
Time for a proper manager to run our club,,,i have no doubt we'll be looking in the wrong direction once again !

He recruited too many players, so why do we have one of the thinnest squads in the league? he's used every single one of his signings so far this season. I count one who hasn't played a full 90 minutes, and that's Ryan Hall who isn't up to fitness yet. A lot of them are looking knackered already and we're not even half way through the season. In what universe is that "too many" players?HarryofOz wrote:

Sorry 64, I''m as worried as you. Especially given that we didn't deserve the points v Barnsley and various other games where we got points despite being very poor. I can see us being dragged into the relegation places and don't see much sign of us realistically being challengers for promotion. One thing beating Southampton reserves but we have to be doing a lot better versus the championship sides around us.
Despair & disapointment are a understatement how i feel about the current circumstances of our special club right now
Btw i will continue to update the comparison thread throughout this & next season as it has stirred lively debate !

Re: Burnley v Leeds - News/Team/Reports/Ratings...
I see Charlie Austin with his 20 goals is the top goalscorer in all the leagues in Europe
Some say we couldn't afford Austin but he would have been alot cheaper & beneficial in the long term than Paynter when you think Barndoor was on 10k a week for his 2 goals during his stay at Leeds....apparently we are still paying a proportion of his salary... what a waste of time, effort & money....I suppose if we'd have signed Charlie Austin we'd have sold him by now

If you'd climb out of your own ass for 5 seconds you'd realise "can't be bothered" and "can't afford" are two different things. Not everyone has enough disposable that our high ticket prices don't make a difference to their lifestyle regardless of how crap the football is. And I don't think Warnock is the Messiah, I just think he's not been given the resources to do his job properly, which is exactly what I thought when people were calling for Grayson's head.white.riot wrote:
Check what an Internet troll is and you will know that I ain't one. I post my opinion on the topic. Your choice whether you involve yourself in the debate or not. If you think paying to watch lufc is throwing money down the drain I wonder if you really are a Leeds supporter. My point, which you ignore, is simply this - if you think Warnock the messiah (many do/did) wouldn't you turn up regularly to support him in his efforts. For me he's a total disaster but I'm still turning out! I don't do superfans or owt, I just find it strange that folk who threw themselves at Warnock's feet and inflicted him on me can't be bothered to turn up (at home let alone away). And believe me the crowd is turning - look at 64 on here, no one wanted Colin more. He's humming a different tune of late. And blokes I have never met before in my life were starting to discuss relegation n the way out of the ground. A very angry crowd tonight.
You're an Internet troll because of that incredibly poor attitude towards other people's views and stances. I don't understand why you feel it necessary to have such an incredibly poor attitude towards the opinions of others, your fellow Leeds fans. I currently don't go to as many games as I would like because the standard of football isn't worth sacrificing food and other life essentials for. Things I'd be happy to make do without or with less if I felt like I was going to get my money's worth. Many times this season I've thought about going to a match on a whim, only to decide against it. Every single time I've thought "I'm glad I didn't go to that, I couldn't do with living a month scrimping around just to get by just because I paid to watch that dross".
It's a damn good job people have a different personality on the internet than they do in real live conversation, because I can't imagine you being anything other than completely insufferable, pompous and not worth the time of day. And at the end of it all, there's just no need for it. Your attitude towards your fellow fans is as much a reason the fans are so disillusioned as anything else. The divide is one of the biggest problems of bates tenure.

I said this before Grayson was sacked, that the club is wrong from top to bottom and nobody listened to me. I said it after Grayson was sacked, and what did everyone say "Oh Warnock will do better he's a great manager he'll get more out of the budget". I said it during the summer. Basically, I've been saying for the past year the club is wrong from top to bottom and I've not been proven wrong yet.1964white wrote:

Would you have wish to go into the new season with the likes of Lonergan, Rachubka, Connolly, O'Brien, Bruce, etc ?...i certainly wouldn't !
Seven of Grayson's players Lees, White, Becchio, McCormack, Pugh, Brown, Kisnorbo have all featured in games this season & NW has also introduced young Sam Byram & Poleon to the first team out of the academy

Glad to see we are still singing from the same hymn sheetwhite.riot wrote:Worst manager since we dropped.
Out of his depth at a big club.
Recruited too many players from relegated teams.
Has the values of a sewer rat so he recruits someone he described as worse than a sewer rat. Diouf was hopeless tonight and has peaked (sic) for lufc and will now deteriorate in the same way he has wherever he has played.
Some will blame Bates, but Bates doesn't dictate tactics, doesn't demand that players hoof the ball or spend hours in the corners. He certainly doesn't demand that Warlock coach players to a point where they can't beat the first man with crosses, even from corners. He doesn't require warlock to have an out of date plan A and absolutely no plan B. He doesn't ask him to play White on the right wing etc.
Coming out of the ground the talk was along the lines of, there must be 3 teams worse than lufc in the league. We concluded that we may be being over optimistic. The crowd is turning (too late unfortunately). Colin was always wrong for Lufc. You just had to look at what he'd achieved, where and how and of course the long term results. Bates cocked up by appointing him but to be fair to Bates (I don't excuse him what may be a terminal mistake) the gobby fans/LUST were pushing for the messiah. I hope to god he's gone before he offers Diouf a long term deal.
Bleak on the pitch and in the stands. Tell me why you'd chant admiringly about Saville and chant abuse about Jones the peado. Which bit of innocent don't the best fans in the world understand? These are the people who chant vile stuff about Bates, join LUST for free and pressure the club to appoint Warlock. Lufc is a bleak club to support just now. And hard as I looked, I couldn't find any MOT fans of Colin n the crowd tonight. Funny that. Where are the MOT fans of Warlock and Diouf? If I can watch this junk surely you can!
Horrendous against a very ordinary Burnley side. Money wasn't the difference. Management was. We are under performing.

Last night a complete waste of time and money.I have been saying on here for a few weeks that Warnock is not the answer but only a few could see the truth now they might admit we were right. When Grayson left we were just outside the play-offs and finished 14th Warnock said this would not happen again guess what it is happening. He stated last night he could not see us winning for a while the squad is not good enough that is all we wanted to hear driving back over the pennines well Warnock only 4 of the players who started last night wre part of Simons team the rest were brought in by you.He seems to think if he goes on the radio slagging the players its want we want to hear well i have news for him accept some of the blame yourself. As for giving marks on this performance i will not waste my time only to say that for me Paddy Kenny would get my man of the match vote.As a supporter who travels the length and breadth of this land watching United my message to Warnock is sort it,Shut up spouting or clear off.

Anyway here I go again
Warnock brought in 12 new players and wanted to bring in more, was this necessary? Was this wise given limited resources?
It would have been better to bring in 4 or 5 players of better quality than a dozen players most of whom are average.
