It's just been on calendar news that the papers have been agreed on both parties and been sent to FA for them to do these bit, so to me it looks like job done, bye bye Bates

So papers sent to FA, which is good news. Has anyone an idea on how long they usually use on what ever they are supposed to do?

I think it would be premature to celebrate and drink up the exit of Master Bates , the problem is the ice has long been melted...

Well the only thing standing in the way now is Football League approval. They approved bates, I can't see them not approving these.

Celebrate, enjoy it while we can, and then go back to cautious optimism. Accept nothing, question everything and make sure the clubs do things right.

The takeover is trivial at the minute. If it's too late to get emergency loans in, the new owners can do nothing. It will either spur our team on do steady the ship until January or make players lose interest knowing they'll be the first ones replaced; especially if Warnock starts touting who he is chasing and what positions he wants filled.

Regardless, I remember there being a commotion that the takeover was pushing to conclusion on a date which would coincide with my birthday. That was August. 50% of Leeds fans have faced a similar occurrence.

The takeover has been concluding, restarting and at one stage cancelled. Exclusivity has ended at least twice. We've been linked with Brits, Saudis, Americans and at least half of the current population of Middle Eastern businessmen. 237 guys-with-contacts-in-the-right-places have pre-empted when its ending with a success rate of 0%. It's been held up by Bates, buyers, bankers, lawyers, supporter trusts, pen salesmen and the football league chiefs.

It's hard to get together a shred of excitement for the latest rumour.

Exactly.

Until I have conclusive proof to the contrary I will continue to think that Bates is stringing GFHC along.

I do hope the Football League have learnt lessons from the mess at Pompey and several other clubs and that their vetting procedures are now up to snuff. I'd like to welcome new owners with the confidence that we are in safe hands.

Wrong end of.

The FA has no powers to determine a period of exclusivity. If papers are lodged with the FA, then it's an approval request regarding the new owners and, under FA regulations, they have to decide withn 5 days...

it was widely reported that the initial period of exclusivity expired yesterday.

If you were buying a house and needed a few more days to complete, then you'd ask for it so the property didn't go back on the market...
