You will always get a feeling of "in crowds" especially on a smaller forum as this, new blood will dilute this a little but some of them will inturn form or be part of a perceived in crowd, I honestly don't see there being too much of an in crowd on here, you will always get a few posters getting on better with some rather than others but that is no different to any other form of club, ie I have been a member of various clubs over the years and there as always been divides in each and every one. When you get threads like the Music Discussion thread, the Horse Racing thread , NFL/Baseball thread etc that are on going and only certain number of posters get involved , you are bound to form sort of alliance with some of the participants on those threads.
On a seperate note , I do agree with the two posters who don't like theand the
smilies.
It can be difficult sometimes with the written word, it's not always meant as it's perceived by some.

ARMLEY OUT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :fish1:Armleywhite wrote:Bugger me, talk about sharing of consciousness.I was going to post something along the same lines, but didn't quite know where to start. Well said Leon.
My issue at the moment is the lack of tolerance. The voting thread is testament to that. No longer, or so it seems is there a "discussion" on differing personal aspects. It's insults or really sarcastic comments (Yes I know I fall guilty of that one at times) instead of allowing another their own path to follow with respect to their beliefs.
I no longer feel a part of MOTforum as i used to and the only reason I don't completely walk away is that it's like a lover that has outgrown you and you stay because you hope it gets better.

Hi Leon1964white wrote:Right now i despair with this site & have shown my disgust of late by keeping a low profile apart from the MD Thread which is close to my heart
The warning thread where no one had the right to reply smacked of sheer hypocrisy & is an absolute joke !
Is it any wonder decent/informative/intelligent posters are walking away from MOT as 1000's have done so over the years.
I know personally of others who feel the same way & are seriously considering whether to remain a member of MOT
Take heed mods & act now before it's too late
As u have noticed I posted less frequent, for the same reasons as your good self. It Needs more banter, I'm sick of mods telling people off when they speak there mind and have a argument, who cares, let it happen, let's have some fun and few arguments . That's life

Just so that I am clear, are you saying that you want a friendlier forum, as Leon does, or a more argumentative one?Bakerjamessteven wrote: Hi Leon

Nothing wrong with having arguments, as long as the personal abuse isnt a frequent thing. which is the case on this forum

Re: Despair with MOT
A forum is all about differing opinions, arguments and banter. Sly, subtle digs where any 'offence' is humorous rather than personal (so that the 'victim' can laugh too) is the sort of thing that goes on between mates. All about getting the balance right and cutting out the stuff which is nasty.

One of the things that made me join up was to have input with riot and silky, those two really got some great debates/ arguments going. This forum could really do with these characters backGuildford White wrote:

We don't tell people off for having healthy debate, we tell people off when they start hurling abuse around. I like to think we can tell the difference between banter and sly digs between friends and people being out of order...

Because that's how forums work, people find other things to do with their lives and move on. Yes, it's sad to lose valued members, but it's perfectly normal that there is a cycle of users.
If you can find me examples of mods shutting down reasoned debates then please do so, because I just don't believe they are there.
People don't like it, and maybe it isn't the answer, but I've always been of the opinion that if you don't like something, don't do it, go and leave it to the people who do.
