With all due respect to fans who go to the games - those who have LUTV can re watch and analyse the games, without being jostled by fellow fans, having obstructed views etc. I'm an anorak possibly, but yes, but I do re watch games on LUTV, trying to analyse where this season has gone wrong.

Rid off:
Kenny - Only plays as he is Warnock's favourite. Ashdown and Cairns make less mistakes and make just as many good saves and kick the ball out to OUR players, rather than hoofing and hoping. Kenny at his most vulnerable with crosses and NEAR post strikes. NOT good enough
Peltier - another of Warnock's mistakes. Never played or likely to play in his favoured RB position, as Byram is better. Improved at CD, but not his position either. Lets Lees down and makes the kid look stupid, to save his own face sometimes. NEVER a captain.

Deffo KEEP:
Ashdown -his cup performances have been superior to Kenny 's league ones this season. OK - chelsea and citeh games were derogatory to his stats, but he was hung out to dry on both occasions, by an outplayed Leeds team.
Samby - what a joy the kid is to watch
Lees - wish he'd had the chance to play with Kisnorbo in CD. Done very well with the crap he has had to play alongside of in centre of defence this season though.
Warnock. Only a few games in, but once up to full fitness, will be the best LB we've had in a very long while, I feel.
EHD. Perfect for the Championship and has been one of our better players this season. Still knows how to bring prem class to our players, even if they are sometimes too slow to pick up on what he does in time.
Ross - been played in every position but striker by Warnock in the league, but shown what he can do when given a free rein in cup games.

Jury Out:
on most of our midfielders - blown hot and cold through lack of a regular M/F and never been able to settle. Feel sorry for them. No idea who to sell or keep. All have had highs and lows.
Morison - His two strikes were sublime last week. Does eff all to contribute on the pitch though. Possibly lack of match fitness? He can do it. Will he? Dunno.

To bring through:

Dawson. Kid is freaking sublime at U.21 level. Redfearn reckons he is ready for the first team.
Mowatt - shaping up to be a great midfielder, who scores when he wants to.
Would have said Skelton, who is an ace defender, but he just broke his leg :( , however, Si Lenighan has to be a candidate for MF next season.

Patel said in an interview today, that the club will be looking to bring the youth players through, which is good news.
However, probably all any new manager will get from GFH? :duno:

You don't get to many games either do you ?? honestly, i see good n bad in Austin, he was the only one up for it on Sat, and had a really good game so on the strength of that lets see what he does in our remaining games before passing judgement, Lees well I just wish he wouldn't play hoof ball as much as he does, because believe me he does.

Oh youve seen him the what 10ish games or so hes played for us, good for you. Ive only watched him for 3-4 years playing for Brann in Bergen, conveniently the place i live. Let me say this again. Austin is NOT what we need. And go bollox with amount of games people go to

Imo there is absolutely no point in gutting the whole team. We saw where that has taken us this season.

Personally I feel we have a decent "core", but need a little more in certain areas. If I was managing the side, I would straight away change the hoof ball. We know they can play on the ground, we know they can pass the ball, we know they can keep the high tempo going and it's just a matter of being told they can.

As of right now, I would keep: (for the starting 11)

Kenny/Ashdown
Peltier
Lees
Pearce
Warnock

(Oh wow, that is a back four right there...)

Byram
Ross
Tonge
Morison

I feel we lack a decent left wing and a decent box to box CM who can control the game and create. We don't need to go and replace the whole side. Waste of money and resources, but we really need a little bit more quality in a couple of key areas.

Anyone who thinks we should only keep a handful of players is dreaming. All that would happen is exactly what happened with Warnock's desperate attempt to shift the blame for his own shortcomings onto the previous players and we'd end up replacing a whole bunch of average players with another bunch of average players. If not worse players as has happened with Warnock.

We should be looking at quality and not quantity and bring in top of the line players in the positions they are needed most. A striker with pace and a proven scoring record at a decent level. A couple of creative midfielders. A holding midfielder. A commanding central defender.

Bring in four players but spend big on them. The rest of the squad can fill in the gaps.
Un Marcelo Bielsa, solo hay un Marcelo Bielsa. Gracias Marcello. Marsching on together.

For me

Keep :

Kenny or Ashdown, i dont think we need both. (preferably with a new young understudy coming in)
The entire back line, except drury. I think we have sufficient cover at the back, id like to see another better CB come in to be honest, But i think Lees, Peltier, and Pearce seem to work well, however its alittle thin.
Midfield : id Keep Green and tonge, and at a push Austin. Brown - now past it i think, and i dont think norris will last too many more seasons at this level. No idea why we signed hall, or pugh. Get rid.

Strikers, Morrison and Ross. Jury for me is still out on Varney. Seen him play both extremes of the spectrum, and i quite like having a comedy player on match days. Me and a good friend of mine whos a celtic fan have taken a shine to him for all his wrong qualities. Id like to keep somma too ... however i think that might just be because i like him and want him to succeed rather than what he can offer after all the injuries.

First Team:
Kenny - Not going to get shot of him unless Colin gets another job as he's probably one of the top earners... He seems to make at least one save per game which keeps us in it.
Byram - Obviously.
Lees - Has been severely let down this season by chopping and changing his partner and now not even playing alongside a recognised CB. Get in another solid CB next season and he'd grow even more.
Peltier/Pearce - But not both. I'd err for Pearce as it's his more natural position and a new manager probably won't fall out with him like Warnock seems to have.
Warnock - From most reviews, our best LB for years.

Tonge - Him leaving was the difference mid-season and the delay in him coming back de-railed us somewhat.

Diouf- One of our more consistent players this season in that you know what you're going to get. I think he'd be quite good leading the line and playing in other players (as his crossing's woeful).
McCormack - I can see him doing better with a different manager, has become the whipping boy since Luci's gone and clearly plays better with confidence.

Bench/To Prove themselves:
Ashdown - Solid, though would be nice to see him in the league as he's mainly been used against higher opposition.
White - If he works on other areas of his game he could be what we're missing on the left wing.
Green - Has been hit and miss this season, but has had some good games.
Austin - Same as with Green. Gives us some physicality in CM.
Morisson - Maybe he needs match fitness, maybe a kick up the arse, but he's clearly got the ability.
Habibou - Needs more time, but going by Thom and Eddie's comments at the weekend he didn't seem to make much of his start.

Get rid:
Brown - Not up to speed at this level to play a meaningful role.
Norris - As above.
Varney - Has been crap more than good.
Hall - Doesn't seem to bring anything to the table. Complete waste of money.
Drury/Pugh - They still here?

We really need (in order of least to most essential) a solid CB to organise the defence a bit more, Box to box/creative CM, pacey creative winger (or two) and a proven goalscorer.

Adkins has to be favourite for most people at the moment. I'd love Lucas here, but probably as a defensive coach over manager... Wouldn't mind Poyet either though.

Di Canio would just bring in loanees, and we know how well that works here...

Just as important the new manager brings with him some decent backroom staff plus a top scouting team, the recruitment of new players has been poor of late !

Spot on, Leon; other teams in this division (and in the lower reaches of the Prem) seem to be able to unearth gems on a regular basis; we, on the other hand, seem to always miss the boat.

Personally, I'd keep Kenny, Peltier, Lees, Warnock, Pearce, Byram, Tonge, Green, EHD, Morison and Ross. We need a creative MF, at least one pacy winger and a proven goalscorer. For a club like ours, this shouldn't be problematic, especially if GFH make the right managerial appointment. Crux is we need to offer competitive wages; our stature, facilities, support etc are not enough in and of themselves to attract the type of players we need to finally get out of this division

I look at other clubs where excellent players have come to the fore and think "why did we miss out on him?" Okay, you cannot spot every potential good player, but there are enough around that a blind man could pick up one or two.

I see good young Irish players during the season and even watching the FLS/Scottish football on telly there is quality out there. We need a young, hungry team to grab this league by the scruff of the neck over the next season or three and be ready for the Prem.

easy.

you (new manager) pick the best 11 of the current squad plus subs, put anyone under 24 on that list too, then get rid of everyone else.

then you bring people in to be first team players.

rather than buying people to be squad players.

It's not exactly rocket science, is it Gino? If, as most of us seem to agree, GFH don't have pots of cash, then an effective scouting system has to be a top priority. Players aren't just going to fall into our laps, we have to go out and find them. Something we have become increasingly poor at doing over the last lot of years. Do we even have an Irish scout? There's talent on these shores, as there is elsewhere, some of which is good enough to make the grade. Take a punt, Leeds, it a no-brainer, imo!

to be fair, we have taken a couple of punts this year with Austin and Habibou

IMO a punt is when you throw in one of your youth players (e.g. Byram) to see if he is good enough or gamble on a raw talent from a lower level. Meeta told us constantly than Austin was not the answer and nobody had ever heard of Haribou - the fact that he has not had a look-in since signing suggests that it was one of the strangest signings of recent times.

There are good, young, raw and hungry players around the lower leagues - and in Ireland/Wales - worth a look. We picked Beckford up from non-league and Snoddy was a 2nd or 3rd division player in Scotland, so it can be done.

That crown definitely goes to Hall - signed on loan initially then not played, then signed on a permanent! Beggars belief some of the decisions at our club, especially when Colin moans about lack of funds...
