First away game

Hi all im an irish leeds fan who makes the trip over to elland road 3 or 4 times a season.
Im going to try and get an away game in this year. Ive got my gold membership and im good to go. Just need to pick a game now.

What fixture would you lot who have experienced it all before recommend??

Im taking into account a few things here firstly it has to be reasonably close to an airport, and after that im looking for the one you think offers the best athmosphere and would be a nice ground/town/city to visit

Well then cross Barnsley off your list for starters

Just looking at the teams in the championship Reading is the only ground I haven't visited so maybe I should include the Madejski Stadium on my away agenda list this season

Heathrow is just down the road from Reading....

Bournemouth has an airport too..

Yea I was considering wigan or bolton. Anyone visited and what were they like? Gud banter? I know there nice grounds anyway.

You could easily do Bolton, Wigan or Blackburn. All within a spit of Mancs airport and all ex Prem. So stiff tests. I think there's a direct train from the airport which passes through Wigan. Wigan is on the main West Coast line from Scotland to London so is well served for trains. Straight through trains from Mancs centre to Bolton and Blackburn. Job done mate. Give us a wave

Will depend on K.O time for you I expect. You need a Saturday game? Assume at least one is. We will also get a huge allocation in Wigan.

Great info mate thanks. Yea from previous experience when ryanairs times to leeds/bradford on saturdays were rubbish, most of us irish whites jumped on the manc flight on saturday morning. Its quite cheap to fly in and out of manchester from dublin so that sounds very do-able. Passed the jjb or what ever they call it in wigan these days a few times, looks a nice ground. Thats going onto my shortlist

Yes i think we took 6000 to Wigan last time which was an FA Cup game I believe if my memory serves me right

We took 9k I recall the first time and had the whole of one side. Unallocated seating as well. Nipped in early, good seat, uncle joe's and a Wigan kebab. Roberts and the other big fast fella up front from memory. We could never handle the modern Wigan.

I remember jimmy bullard causing alot of problems for championship midfields in the start of that 'modern wigan' era.
