Paddy McCourt has to be worth a punt if his MLS aspirations don't come to fruition.

We definatly need a new CB and some wingers,

I personally feel we have enough fire power upfront to get us the goals we need if we had the players to provide the assists. I would also prefer to see Smith starting up top with Ross and Poleon, we keep seing glimmers from the 3 when they get on the pitch toegther but its only for about 10/20mins.

Lets not forget Ross is a good goal scorer when he has players upto down the middle and has players to feed the ball into him in the final 3rd lat season Ross had to take up that mantle for supplying team mates with assists i think he was the 3rd in the list of most assists from the season.

Smith is a real handful and thats been evident everytime hes come on, Ross and Dom both have the pace and trickery to feed off that and with Smith being so tall it generally attracts 2 defenders around him leaving that extra bit of space for the two little guys...

Gotta be worth a punt? Lots of Prem experience and, unless I'm mistaken, he's a free agent. But could we afford his wages and/or would he drop a division?

A man who may be injured more now but, when he appears, he always looks like he'll score. He can still create, absorb the attention of more than one opposition player and, the most precious commodity of all - score. He may only be 'the man' part time now, but he's still worth it. It may have been a short term move for a specific 'goal', bit like Vinnie in the day.

I had previously accepted that 'you can't go back' but, what the hell have we got that's as good, never mind better.
Too late now though. Here's hoping we get lucky with someone else.

I agree with Gino by the way - that lad Boyce looks the real deal. Whether he would make the transition or not it would be worth a gamble for such a precocious talent.
Don't think we'll get Beckford now - he went to Bolton earlier in the window!

Yeah don't I know it! We'll have to make do and hope BMcD can find a way of getting the new boys to gel more.
I'm not being negative really; it has to be difficult for the manager and the lads, especially with so many potential promotion contenders this year.

Funnily enough, that's what TSS said. He reckons if Tomlin is worth 4, then Ross is worth 10! Good player that he is, Ross is worth nowhere near 10 (or 4, tbh). Where does Tomlin play?

It sounds from here that the chairman has been listening.
"Last year, the league was very tight. We lost four games in a row, but had we won those four games, we would have made the play-offs. We finished 13th, so I have told Brian let's try to improve and finish top eight this year," Nooruddin says.

To do that McDermott will need reinforcements. So far this season, he has overseen a positive start with two wins and two draws, but with two weeks remaining before the transfer window closes, Nooruddin is ready to sign off on at least two new signings to help improve the club's chances of progress.

"We need a centre-back and a right winger," the chairman says. "Brian is looking and we are supporting him. He is very honest and understanding and showed with Reading that not only does he have a good transfer record, but also has great talent for nourishing youth players – this is really where I want him to focus."

I read that we were interested in Gabriel Torje from Udinese. 23 winger who spent last season on loan at Granada in La Liga.

Anybody know anything about this lad? If memory serves me, he used to go alright in Football Manager. Would he solve our width issues?

But aren't Granada and Udinese both owned by the same people who who own Watford? If so, then doubt that transfer would happen.

That will not stop them doing business with other teams, i.e. Vydra to WBA on loan the could possibly put a stipulation in the contract that the player cannot play vs watford but i doubt it.
