So did we actually sign any italians before the window closed? Did I miss the official announcement?

Shouldn't think so, they were Cellinos' signings based on BMC being gone..so not cleared by BMC, or indeed not wanted by him

Really strange one, this! Andrea Tabanelli is registered and on contract to AC Cesena. He was loaned to Cagliari, but hasn't played for them, but has been pushed on to Leeds. I didn't know footballers could be sub-contracted out like that... what does Cesena think about it all?

Andrea Tabanelli who joined Leeds United on loan on transfer deadline day will not train with the squad this week until his signing has been ratified by the Football League.
Tabanelli was brought in from Italian Serie A side Cagliari by prospective new owner Massimo Cellino and he was at training at Thorp Arch on Monday with Leeds boss Brian McDermott admitting during his returning press conference that he knew nothing about the player.
The 23-year-old only signed for Cagliari earlier last week, arriving on loan from Serie B side Cesena with a view to a permanent deal in the summer.
Despite not signing the player, McDermott also admitted that he would give the player every chance during his time with the club.

Glenavon youngster Robbie McDaid is on his way to Leeds United, it is understood.
The 18-year old from County Tyrone, is believed to be signing a two-year deal with the Elland Road club.
The striker came off the bench to score twice against Mid-Ulster rivals Portadown in their 4-2 win on Saturday.
It’s understood that confirmation of the his departure is due to be announced within the next 48 hours, and has been delayed due to the ongoing ownership battle at the Yorkshire club.
“He’s a exceptional young player,” said Lurgan Blues boss Gary Hamilton. “When I arrived at this club he was amongst a group of players which included Jordan Dane, James Singleton and Rhys Marshall who were playing U16 football and were far too good for it.
“Robbie moved straight into the reserves last year and hardly played at U18 level because he was mature enough to play at that level and he has continued to improve. It’s a big chance for him and he deserves it.”
McDaid - the son of ex-Glentoran striker John - had caught the eye of a number of cross channel clubs.

Supposed to be signing Stoke's surplus keeper Butland on loan as well. Love to see Kenny benched!
Thing is - unless the TOMA happens, we can't even pay the players we have wages end of this month.
Can't see us getting anyone in, TBH.

Not a bad up and coming keeper, hes worth a punt in the first team over Kenny, abit of competition for places would do Kenny some could and he could do with sheading a few pounds.

Yes but as Twiggs said, we can't afford to play the wages for the current squad, so who is authorising increasing the wage bill, and how are we going to pay it?

Transfer speculation at a time where we are unable to find monies to pay the current playing staff
Unless Cellino is given approval by the FL you can forget any incoming players at LUFC, the only transfer movement will be those leaving ER

Considering that the 2 goals mentioned in the full quote must be all he has scored this season, why have we not looked seriously at either Boyce or Gormley from Cliftonville?

Hopefully good scouting. Sometimes players, perhaps like the irish top scorers, are already at the height of their talent/ability/performance and don't have the skill/ability to take their game to a higher level whereas someone else has the potential to be a much better player. You often see strikers at lower levels fail to shine when they move up a division.

Hope it's right! Not that long ago when Joe Hart through his greasy fingers stage, Buttland played for the senior England team in his place, so must have summat about him! Still, he's now third goalkeeper for Stoke, so obviously gone off the boil somewhat!
