Cellino's record with stadiums isn't particularly impressive though is it?Drs.Dad wrote:

Naw, that's just Shaun Harvey working his socks off. Poor man, wonder if he has a sock sponsorship lined-up?Guildford White wrote:Complications?

Agreed, unless our probable new owner pulls something spectacuar out of the bag. I somewhat doubt it!Guildford White wrote:As so often, Rob Atkinson hits the nail on the head

Absolutely. Always gets me when folk on here were moaning about the fact Bates had a salary cap of I think it was £15,000 per week for our top players and we weren't competitive!! Come on get real folk. I for one am struggling financially, £30,000 per YEAR would be amazing in my life and then we see Rooney being offered £300,000 per WEEK FFSfaaip wrote:
something needs to be done to balance it all out a bit more...how about an across the board salary cap?...
Trouble is, is that unless the salary cap is across the entire FL's then their unworkable. Sure it save the club money by only ever paying a max wage. However, all the best players bugger off elsewhere where they know they can get what they ask for, leaving LUFC with the lesser skilled players or loanee's. What Bates did was save the club money, great if your the one having to shore up any deficits, however, look where we are. Crap squad that requires a lot of work. We never invested in anyone decent under his tenure and all the good'uns simply walked away to clubs much better than ourselves. Just imagine if, god forbid, Bates really had had the club at heart.becchio bear wrote:

Apart from the fact he feels he has the right to slag off Moyes despite this man being the driving force behind an Everton side that regularly punched above its weight and gained qualification for the Champions League at the expense of the super rich sides. Slagging off a man that has proved an ordinary side can compete. So in effect slagging off a man that disproves his whole argument.Guildford White wrote:As so often, Rob Atkinson hits the nail on the head

No they are NOT. Nurses, firemen, heart and other surgeons, Ambulance and rescue personnel ARE.MeeTa wrote:

Different world mate, and far better.weasel wrote:

The challenge is in competing. Sure we don't have the big bucks but with the right kids coming through the academy there is always hope that we can create a great side. How many of Don Revie's side came through the youth set up or were bargain buys? Get the right players and a united side and you can achieve the seemingly impossible.

You might think they are worth that amount of money but I don't.MeeTa wrote:

They are worth way more than footballers in theory. But there is not 50 000 people paying money to watch a nurse or fireman, loads of companies doesn't sponsor them etc etc. they dont generate insane amounts of money to whomever pays them. That is why some footballers are worth the ridiculous amounts they get payed a week.Twiggster wrote:

Nope. They GET ridiculous amounts. They are NOT worth them.MeeTa wrote:
