Incarceration without charge for even the most serious of offenses is a serious breach of civil liberties. To get it for suggested fiscal impropriety is criminal in itself. Dubai should hang their heads in shame.
Thought about this a few times...and wondered if the following scenario played out how people would 'feel'...
Mr A. is appointed as MD of a large football club whom he has supported for many years. He quickly discovers that the promised backing from his 'employers' doesn't materialise and is left to scratch around trying to make ends meet, despite repeatedly requesting assistance it becomes clear that those above present a disjointed and ineffective management.
Mr A. knowing that the company/club is failing and making massive losses and with a blinding love for the club he has supported finds himself in a position where he could potentially be the person who's name could be attached potentially to the loss and closure of the club.
Under pressure to maintain the position of the club and with no financial or managerial help from those above Mr A. looks to increase income streams into the company but finds that the 'gap' is not able to be bridged and believes that costs cannot be cut without damaging the club further. As a result and faced with potential administration/closure, losses personally of both a professional and financial nature as well as potentially breaking the hearts of thousands and thousands of loyal supporters Mr A. decides upon a course of action of signing off invoices in order to release monies from the owners to be placed back into the club to assist with it's running...
Whilst granted this maybe a work of fiction & it may well be the case (or not) that Mr A. could be seen to have had his hand well and truly in the till. But what IF he had done so in a blind and vain attempt to keep alive a club that he knew so many loved out of pure desperation.
As a fan would you sympathise and understand/feel for the guy who has attempted to save your club through any means necessary (legally, illegally or stupidly!) or would you still simply label him a crook?

.@DavidHaighTruth You'll get support from a human rights point of view, but nothing else. Haigh was paid to oversee the destruction of #LUFC

@TheSquareBall "Haigh was paid to oversee the destruction of #LUFC" That is some heavy comment, mates :O Can you back that up?

@TwiggsterMOT You think that needs backing up!? Hahahaha!
From people much more in the know about this than me.

God knows, sounds like another conspiracy theory. What is for certain though is that there is a lot that we do not know and when you are talking about people like Haigh, Bates and GFH who would all stab each other in the back to make a quick buck who knows? Anything is possible but as ever it's us the fans than end up getting shafted the most.

PRE Zakkerly! This is why I want the gfh/haigh case to be held ASAP. As I posted earlier, heads we all hate could roll!
I hope it might - if Haigh ever gets released for trial.
It is MY opinion that this will never happen. Haigh will be found hanging in his cell, before GFH/bates would allow the truth to come out.
I HOPE not, but....

Really?? I really don't think those two entities are that powerful tbh. Bates, GFH are not the govmnt and Haigh certainly aint Dr Kelly. All that will happen is Haigh will be financially and professionally discredited.

Perfect set-up for a tell-all, best-selling book, "The Leeds United Screw Job", by David Haigh.

Yes it is, but I'm afraid the LUFC soap opera is currently more interesting than the football played by the team. I'd also much rather this wasn't the case but these are, from my understanding, some serious allegations against a company that owns 25% of the club and so are not to be ignored. Not that we as fans can do much about it other than look on as LUFC seems to be involved in some awful slow motion car crash.
