Rough times ahead
find it difficult these days to make any predictions or comments on the future of the club I have supported for forty years especially in the present climate. The club seems as unstable now as it was in the later stages of the oleary times .The now president what ever that means is unpredictable and the new manager seems to be as wary as a death row convict. There have been many comments about give him a chance stick with etc but for those who have seen how good leeds can be and could be I see no immediate end in sight for the long suffering and I honestly believe best fans in the country .neil red fern is a good manager but I don't see him having the freedom of decisions that a manager should have whilst the present chairman remains in place .please feel free to comment

Re: Rough times ahead
I would say that the club is stable, it's just unpredictable, and it is always going to be with Cellino in charge.

Re: Rough times ahead
Most stable financially in nearly two decades & we are trying to play decent football with home-grown players in our team
Lot more positives this season than in a long time. Our coach is full or near full for every game thesedays as oppose to half-empty last season
Derby on the 28th November is fully booked already. So our fans optimism has obviously return after three seasons of dire football
We'll be fine as long as Cellino & many of our negative fans gives Redfern & our young team a chance to prove themselves !

Tell me Adelaide how rough was it last season & where we were heading as we were skint ?Adelaidewhite wrote:find it difficult these days to make any predictions or comments on the future of the club I have supported for forty years especially in the present climate.

You sure we're not skint now? We can't raise a mortgage to buy Elland Road despite having most of the £16 Million available from the McCormack sale.1964white wrote:

Bates, GFH, Cellino: Same s**t, different arseholes.

I thought the reason he couldn't get a mortgage is because he's a convicted fraudster?Guildford White wrote:You sure we're not skint now? We can't raise a mortgage to buy Elland Road despite having most of the £16 Million available from the McCormack sale.

There is that - although if he was as rich as the Celiebers claim him to be, why would he need a mortgage?Genghers wrote: I thought the reason he couldn't get a mortgage is because he's a convicted fraudster?

Re: Rough times ahead
I don't doubt that he's rich. Mortgages are a sensible way to invest. He said he would use the McCormack money to help buy back the stadium, but that wouldn't cover the whole amount, so rather than use his own money up front he'll use gate receipts etc to pay off the mortgage.Guildford White wrote:There is that - although if he was as rich as the Celiebers claim him to be, why would he need a mortgage?
He should never have promised to buy back the stadium by November, but just because it hasn't happened it doesn't mean he has no intention of buying it.
I'm not a Celieber, but we have to go on facts that are there - he hasn't bought the stadium back yet. He may or may not buy it back in the future. He has invested in the squad, though arguably just reinvested the McCormack money, but Bates pocketed plenty of cash from player sales which never seemed to replace those we lost...
I know you don't like him, but do we currently have any other option? We'll never know what the Farnan group would have done either, but clearly they weren't willing to fight for the club!

Re: Rough times ahead
Definitely more optimistic than at any time since SG was sacked. Same problems in that we don't have a solid defence and seem to miss a leader in there. I like Pearce, a good no nonsense defender, and am glad Cooper is getting a chance due to suspensions.
The passing style is a lot more pleasing than the sort of football we have been seeing in recent years and he team contains more youth products, with more waiting in the wings.

Who put in the money to buy out GFH ?Guildford White wrote:

Who paid all the players & staff even though he wasn't officially the owner ?
Who paid off all the other debts ?
Who is paying the players/ staff now ?

Re: Rough times ahead
If Cellino just went ahead and bought ER back with his own money, then the value of the club would be greater than it is now, plus the cost of the stadium. GFH, without putting in one red cent, would see their 25% worth so much more, and that is what Cellino doesn't want to see. With a mortgage for the remainder of the money required over and above the McCormack money, GFH get less out of the value, you could say they would be responsible for 25% of the mortgage. Cellino obviously doesn't want to put any money into their sweaty mitts, especially if they have not signed off on an agreement they made.

I think he is a very clever man. He has owned and run football clubs for almost a quarter of a century, and you must pick up a few ideas in that time. If you remember, we were all discussing the strong possibility that Leeds will be fined and/or have a transfer embargo applied to us, due to overspending (and we are far from the only ones). I have no doubt that Cellino will try to have some of our overspend 'written off' for one reason or another, but I believe this is the reason why he brought so many players into the club in the summer. I think it could be high quality foresight on his part! However, his weakness is his latin temperament and ever-ready gob! He does tend to fly off the handle, especially if he feels he has not been given the respect he feels he needs!

Re: Rough times ahead
I think the problem that we have in terms of borrowing money, Bates had this problem also, if of course that Leeds United was placed into administration (By Bates) several years ago. As such, a company which has been in admin, even with new owners, will find it difficult getting credit.
