Leeds v Brentford - Team/Reports/Ratings
Another tough game coming up as we face one of the surprise teams of the championship, hopefully we can keep our good run going. Fans will be pleading for the return of Billy Sharp to the first eleven. Personally i would stick to the eleven which started v Huddersfield. The only selection poser Redfern may have is Morison or Cani ?
Why change a winning formula ?

Re: Leeds v Brentford - Team/Reports/Ratings
I agree. Don't think we need to make any changes. A team that wins away from home with the other team scoring seems to have some of that cohesion and fight that we missed in the early half of the season. We scored, they scored, we capitulated. No more!!
I am thinking that whilst Silvestre imo is a good shot stopper, he is prone to mistakes and I don't think he is feeling any pressure for losing his job. It's a shame we don't have any cup games in which to try out a different keeper and at least give him something to think about.

Agreed, I think it was a mistake not to play Stuart Taylor in the cup v Sunderland. Silvestri has bags of potential, and keepers often come into their best form over 30, but Taylor commands the area rather better.

Re: Leeds v Brentford - Team/Reports/Ratings
Teams have started exploiting him at corners too, he gets bullied off the ball too much... I think Taylor would be a solid enough replacement, but Silvestri gets the nod as probably having played more minutes in his career!MOTliam wrote:I am thinking that whilst Silvestre imo is a good shot stopper, he is prone to mistakes and I don't think he is feeling any pressure for losing his job. He'll improve, as keepers tend to, with age and more experience in the English leagues (I know people are sick of hearing that about our imports...). Just look at de Gea, lambasted in his first season and now coveted as one of the best young keepers in the game.
Silvestri could do with hitting the weight room more, build up some of the physicality he lacks.

i dont see a need to change personel just yet we should keep with the team thats winning. I could imagine it would be a serious knock of confidence if players were dropped for not doing anything wrong and having the best month of the season so far to date.
not to mention getting over the new year hangover we normally suffer from.

Forever and ever we shall follow are team, because we're Leeds United we rule supreme!

Re: Leeds v Brentford - Team/Reports/Ratings
Cook apparently got a knock against Huddersfield and only trained yesterday, so he's the only change I could see.
We could do with some more options on the bench. Unless he changes Morison for Cani, I think Sharp and Antenucci are the best strikers to have there. Suspect N'Goyi and Bianchi will be on the bench, but I'd also have Adryan as he's a more like-for-like with Mowatt.
I'd start Berardi over Wooton maybe, just as he's a more natural fit for the position and so we have CB cover on the bench. I do think the lack of another recognised left back is a worry, but Cooper has filled in there before...

By all accounts Wootton has done well, so I'd keep him in with Berardi on the bench. Wootton can still cover CB, if we had an injury to Bamba or Cooper we move him to CB and bring Berardi in at RB - or drop Byram back and bring a midfielder on.

Very true. Berardi is probably more attacking too, which could potentially leave us short at RB.Martyn wrote:By all accounts Wootton has done well, so I'd keep him in with Berardi on the bench. N'Goyi injured so won't be involved again.

When did N'Goyi get injured? That's got to be frustrating.
I agree with leaving Wootton in. It's mad that our defence is playing well-ish. Could be a great weekend if England beat the Welsh and Leeds win!

Apparently aggravated an old injury or something, was clearly carrying it when he got here.MOTliam wrote:When did N'Goyi get injured? That's got to be frustrating.

Would be nice to get the holy trinity: A Leeds United win, a Leeds Rhinos win and a Scum loss

Where was this version of Wootton the whole season prior to this good run? Thought he might be good enough when he arrived, but seemed to fade in and out of the line-up. Maybe the thought (threat) of being sold kicked him into the next gear? Hope so.Martyn wrote:By all accounts Wootton has done well, so I'd keep him in with Berardi on the bench. I'm expecting another win against Brentford. We are playing solid footy at the moment, working hard, defending better, just need more of an attacking threat.
When the ball hits the goal, it's not Shearer or Cole, it's ...... Antenucci.

There's only one change tomorrow, Sharp is in for Mowatt.

Please don't play Berardi. He is not a footballer.
Mowatt was quiet last game but seems to be better at home. Would stick with it, though give Sharp more time from bench this week.

Would agree. Would start Mowatt with the plan for Sharp on at 60, obviously depending on how the game pans out.Cow & Calf White wrote: Mowatt was quiet last game but seems to be better at home. Would stick with it, though give Sharp more time from bench this week.
Come on the Leeds!!!

As Gessa said, only change is Mowatt out for Sharp.
Silvia, Wootton, Bamba, Cooper, Taylor, Byram, Austin, Murphy, Cook, Sharp, Morison.

Didn't think there was any need for changes especially the system but let's hope the decision is vindicated. MOT MOT MOT
