Re: Next Manager/Rosler/REDDERS STAYING
Neil Redfearn confirms he'll stay on as Academy manager: http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/s ... -1-7301945
Very pleased about that. Lots of positives so far this summer, but that's the biggest imo.

Great news and respect to Redders for sticking with us after the way the club's treated him. Continuity with the younger players can only be good.

Better than any signing if he can keep producing players of quality like Byram, Cook, Mowatt, Taylor then we will benefit greatly from this.

More positive news
For once we are getting things right at the top which will breed down to the pitch & as dear old Don said the good principles apply right down to the tea-lady
Proves Cellino right - If Redfern was ambitious he would move on to coach elsewhere, NR is now at his level which of course is an integral part of LUFC

or it could be that he loves leeds and doesn't want to move from the city??
he's on a rolling one year contract so wouldn't be surprised if he gets ditched by cellino next summer...

Re: Next Manager/Rosler/other management appointed
I dont neccessarily feel this means Cellino is getting it right, or that he has good principles hes treatment of staff is shambolic to say the least. Only time will tell if he can refrain from putting his nose into area's where other people are alot more qualified than he is.1964white wrote: Proves Cellino right - If Redfern was ambitious he would move on to coach elsewhere, NR is now at his level which of course is an integral part of LUFC
credit where credit is due though made some astute staff appointments over the passed 3 to 4 weeks lets hope he allows them to do their jobs. This recent news comes a quiet a coo for us not to lose such a talented coach but for what ever reason redders is staying it might not be down to a lack of ambition, but more of a lack of a more exciting job prospect.

I think it's more a case that Redders loves the Academy job, and from his quotes it sounds as if he's really passionate about continuing his role in developing the future of the club.1964white wrote:Proves Cellino right - If Redfern was ambitious he would move on to coach elsewhere, NR is now at his level which of course is an integral part of LUFC
He said he had approaches from elsewhere, but wanted to stay here. After his treatment by Cellino I think that proves how devoted he is to this club - something rare in football these days!

Glad he has remained in the academy job as i fear he would have become just another journeyman manager over a period of time, coaching the kids is his forte

The cynical side of me would suggest that NR hasn't been offered a management job elsewhere so has accepted his old position back so he is still earning a wage until a management position crops up somewhere and then adios.

Re: Next Manager/Rosler/other management appointed
In this topic; any news that may portray Cellino in a negative light is pure speculation. Any good news and praise be to Cellino and the holiest of ghosts.
It was clear in the press conferences that the level headed Pearson saw the worth of Redfearn. Big respect to him.
He may well go when another job comes up, still wouldn't blame him. Newsflash: every player and manager we have would leave for a better opportunity. Plenty of good men have left in the past few years for better opportunities; Milner, Delph, Howson, Beckford, McCormack, Gradel, Becchio, Snodgrass, Johnson, etc. I'm sure if no one came in with an offer, they'd have happily stayed with whatever clueless regime was running this club at the time. I'm just glad that currently we've got Sullivan/Redfearn looking after the academy, Rosler/Kelly looking after the first team, and some competent people like Pearson looking after the running of the club. If Redfearn and the academy can keep producing players in the same manner as those who have already came through, it's an invaluable aspect of the club that other teams would kill to have.

Don't do that either...I defend Cellino because I believe he's good but I never big him up

I think Redfearn has gone back to the academy because he is contractually obliged to do so. if another offer comes a begging he will be off i am in no doubt about that.

For a nice change you can look to the doom and gloom, and I will look to the positivesweasel wrote:The cynical side of me would suggest that NR hasn't been offered a management job elsewhere so has accepted his old position back so he is still earning a wage until a management position crops up somewhere and then adios.
I think he probably did have offers elsewhere- although at smaller clubs to us, obviously. They might well have been assistant manager roles, or even coaching. However he hasn't let his own ego get in the way and has returned to a job he loves. I think had I been in his position I would have been very tempted to cut off my nose to spite my face, or at least felt so offended by my treatment that I would have refused the option.
Some people are actually happier being within an organisation, rather than leading it. It takes a big man to actually realise you are happier where you are than to keep climbing the greasy pole. Maybe Redders realised he could earn decent money, be pretty much left alone, and enjoys the role in the academy (where he is now bomb-proof (or at least would be under any other owner!)). Maybe he simply decided that he didn't need the grief and inevitable sackings that accompany the role of football club manager.
Wise.......well lets just say I TOLD YOU SO
