The season is only a few days away so it's time to see how many are interested in playing this year.
Normally Leon helps out with the competition when I'm away and have no internet.This year he has his own comp to run and with the other polls etc he won't have time, so Becchio Bear has kindly said she will step in and do the updates if and when required. Thanks Ang.

For any new members, this is how the competition works. On Saturdays and Tuesdays when there's a full league programme, I select 6 games where we try to predict the scores. All predictions have to be in before Kick Off.

Example;
Cardiff v Fulham. If you predict Cardiff to win 1-0 and that is the score then you get 3 points, if Cardiff win by any other score then you get 1 point, a draw or a Fulham win and you get 0 points. The points accumulate until the final games of the season.
Don't worry if you start off slow, it's a long season and there's plenty of time to catch up.

LEEDS UNITED CORRECT SCORE/SCORERS

This popular competition has been running on the Predictions Forum long before I joined MOT

Last year's competition was a cracker where we started with 35 participants, unfortunately over half of entrants dropped out as the season progressed. All the same it turned out to be an enthralling competition with Mrs 64 (who claims to know nothing about football) winning the contest from Velotrax in 2nd place. Only 9 points devided the top seven in the end.

The rules are :

3 points for forecasting the exact score
1 point for the correct result
1 point for any correct goalscorer, should you predict a goalscorer to score two goals correctly you would receive 2 points & so on !

This year's competition will be run by Genghers from September as he is away for the majority of August so Ges will cover the first fixture v Burnley & I shall step in until Genghers returns from his holiday

LAST MAN STANDING

This is how it works:

1. Each weekend of the championship season, entrants nominate one team to win their game. We will not include midweek games.

2. If your team wins, you go through to the next round. A draw or defeat means you are out

3. Each person can only nominate a team once – if you pick Birmingham in the first round for example you can never choose them again, except in the virtually impossible position where we get to round 25 and there are still competitors standing. At that point the selection process would start again from scratch. Believe me, this will not happen.

4. Last person still in the tournament wins. If the last entrants are all eliminated in the same round, they share the honours.

The first round consists of the games played this coming weekend, from Saturday August 8 to Sunday August 10:

FANTASY FOOTBALL LEAGUE

Every player picks a team from either the Prem, Champs, L1 or L2, the selection you make would be your team for the whole of the 2015/16 season. Would be good if we have a nice mix of teams from all four leagues. So all you would need to do is pick your team, it's that easy !

Each team on the list plays each other twice over the season

2 points for a win
1 point for a draw
1 point for scoring three goals or more
1 point for keeping a clean sheet
1 point for no yellow/red cards during a match
1 point deducted for a team who incurs 3 or more yellow cards
2 points deducted for a team who incurs a red card, two red cards 4 points deducted

For example if we have four players & their teams

Ges - Walsall
BB - Doncaster Rovers
Gandi - Chelsea
Nick - Man Utd_____Sorry Nick

Official results on the day

Chelsea 1-1 Man City______________Chelsea shown 3 yellowcards
Man Utd 0-1 Southampton__________Man U shown 1 yellow + 1 red card
Donny 3-1 Coventry
Walsall 4-0 Sheff Utd

Taking the scores from the official scores on the day & inserting them into our Fantasy League fixtures/results, they would read :

Donny 3-1 Chelsea
Walsall 4-0 Man U

So the points scored would be

Walsall___ +2, +1, +1, +1 = 5
Donny____ +2, +1, +1 = 4
Chelsea___ -1 = -1
Man Utd___ -2 = -3

So as you can see although your team may have won or drawn on the day the result could be completely different in our crazy Fantasy League. It is more about goals scored & good discipline which determines the outcome of each round of matches
