Re: The Fat Man has to go.
I have never really been a fan of Evans. For me he has had very average success given the time he has in management. A couple of promotions but seemed limited tactically. I still feel though that if he was able to get in all the players he wanted he could do well - the trouble is that with his style of management it would be a revolving door approach to transfers and as soon as someone becomes his scapegoat they'd be out of the team, out of the squad and need to be replaced.
The main worry I always have with managers is when they start making decisions that very few fans would make. Yes there is always the argument that they see the players 24/7 and can see what happens on the training pitch etc but some of the decisions he has made have been baffling.
A) Wootton has always been on a hiding to nothing given that Berardi, Byram and Coyle are(were) all better options. Wootton has generally done okay but is a weak link that never needed to be played there given the other options. People fondly remember Andy Hughes as a player who gave it all in a strange position but those circumstances were different as we had no other options at the time.
B) Carayol - All we ever here is Evans going on about his great signings yet he hardly plays Carayol and apparently Carayol wasn't even in the squad initially yesterday. Either he is fit to play or he isn't. Don't see the point in having wingers and not using them.
C) Bamba - Now yes we were limited yesterday given Bellusci's ban but surely we should have signed someone better given Bamba's attrocious form earlier in the season or tried Wootton there. There was all the talk of offers coming in for him so surely if there was he should have been sold and the money used to get a replacement. Bamba was directly at fault for 2 goals last night and even if you accept the misplaced pass wasn't down to poor defending as such then to lose him man for the header from the corner is bad defending.
D) Doukara up front - It hasn't been working and although the options are limited he needs to try something else. It seems he had 1 transfer option in the window and that was Lafferty. Something needed to be done even if it was just a short term loan deal. Erwin hasn't been given a chance and nobody in the youth team has either.
E) Botaka - the treatment of Botaka has been awful. There is obviously a lot of talent there as his record in Holland is decent. Yet in a team that can't score goals we don't see hi getting a look in. Yes he may not be used to the defensive side of the game but if he can create a goal out of nothing then surely it is worth having hi at least as an option from the bench.

He also tell s them he feels sorry for the fans who made the trip to Brighton and is embarrassed by the defeat. He promises to invest in the team in the summer.

my point being it will probably be some no name manager no one wants than a name manager with a good rep that finally gets success ...Crude wrote: I thought they were watermelons?

I'd say that's a certainty, given how likely we are to be getting a name managed with a good rep.faaip wrote:

Re: The Fat Man has to go.
Did i miss something last night.....
regarding the defending cooper was at direct fault for 2 of our goals and potentialy a 3rd the other was a soft penalty given by Wootton.
Goal One!
Wootton Penalty.. contact was made outisde the box and he went down very easily
Goal Two!
Poor Pass by Bamba Leeds finally get a shot on target shame its cooper turning it passed his own keeper
Goal Three!
Long ball, the player runs of the back of taylor who stands with his hand in the air, bamba makes a great interception cooper stands and literally does not react to the ball dropping next to him
Goal Four!
Im not sure who cooper is meant to be marking if its number 5 or number 17 but hes sat on his arse on the penalty spot as he gets brushed aside very easily and dunk has a run and jump on bamba
so for me cooper is at fault for atleast 2 of the goals 2nd and 3rd and potentialy 4th, bamba is also at fault for 2nd and 4th, and steve evans is at fault for the 1st. Wootton should not be starting at RB.

Re: The Fat Man has to go.
Cooper is easily the worst player in the starting 11 for me, been saying it a while...he hides, which forces his partner to have to do two marking jobs at once and that's why Bamba and Bellusci are often seen committing errors. Our best centre back partnership is Bamba/Bellusci..unfortunately that will need time to re-establish it's self now...

Re: The Fat Man has to go.
If that was a penalty then football should be a non contact sport and the original foul for me committed by the attacker who was behind Wooton as they ball was played into the box..
This is what happens to a team low on confidence/luck and with managers, crazy chairmen and fans on their back...

Cooper looked brittle last season, seem to improve for a few games & has now gone back to the player we first signedhibbi86 wrote:Did i miss something last night.....

League One centre-back
As for Wootton he is so clumsy it's untrue, yes the first foul was outside the box but the dozy idiot had to lean into the attacker from the back when we may have been better off if he hadn't touched him, serves him right. That's three pens he's given away to go with his own goal this season. Along with Bamba & Cooper another liability at the back

Re: The Fat Man has to go.
I think Cooper can be a decent, if limited, centreback with the right partner, Bamba probably isn't the right partner. Cooper's strength is his heading which complements that Bellusci's biggest weakness is probably his heading. As such as a partnership their strengths mesh to cover the other's weaknesses. Once again though Leeds gifted the opposition the goals last night (we only started getting cut open after the heads had gone cos of the goals we had gifted). In terms of defending against the opposition this season we have for the main part been okay but the mistakes that we have made have killed us.
For the opening 15 minutes against Brighton it was an even game. Then we gifted them a 2-0 lead. I certainly don't feel the team is as bad as the result suggests we just need to cut out the bad managerial decisions and on the pitch mistakes. We also need to carry a threat going forward as we have zero threat at present. In the last 5 games we have mustered 1 goal and that was the Cook goal which realistically could have gone anywhere. It is fine having 2 defensive midfielders to keep things tight but it doesn't help us win matches.
