Love a Guinness, only in moderation though

I've voted beer, there's so many micro brewery's these days making some fantastic ales. My no1 choice is a light/blond beer. Best thing that happened to The Peacock was the Ossett brewery taking over and putting Yorkshire Blond on draught.

Well worth trying a pint or two, despite how busy it gets the staff still manage to serve a decent drink

Beer / Lager for me, particularly the so called craft ales like Bishops Finger, Hobgoblin, Old Speckled Hen and stronger lagers like Budveiser Budvar or 1664 or Grolsch.

Over here I drink bottled Stella or Coors draft (nothing light), plus the odd Scotch or Sour-Mash, with an occasional Margarita, Gin 'n Tonic or Whisky-Sour for special occasions.

In Britain I just love real ale, and there's so much choice these days it's like a smorgasbord - from a pub on the Severn Valley Railway serving 8 real ales in 1 place to the Trans-Pennine Pub Crawl, where you can watch the magic scenery in your cups as you belatedly ponder the wisdom of having a pint at 7/8 stations between Stalybridge and Batley (which probably means it takes 7/8 hours to get off one train, have a pint and then get on the next an hour later), or wherever the hell you wake up at the end of your journey.
I haven't actually done the TPPC yet but it's on my bucket-list!

Beer as in Real ale for me. Generally prefer the pale/light coloured ales. Love some of the ' local ' ales we have round here such as HPA, Enville Ginger and Bathams plus also likes of Hobgoblin Gold, Timothy Taylors Landlord and Proper Job from Tribute.

Timothy Taylor's Landlord was always a favourite of mine Gurj. What you said about local beers though is true. In the 60s/70s the Big 5/6 breweries tried to drive real ale out and CAMRA fought them all the way. Nowadays we have the choice, as it should be mate.

Very True Norm, CAMRA have really done a great job in making beer fashionable again, these days its not all about lager as it became in the 90's and turn of the century.

Landlord is a lovely pint definitely :-)

I like a strong dark rum with one ice cube in it.
Also like tall vodka and tonic.
I don't really drink much, (including water), so I've never been a big beer drinker 'cause it makes me want to pee too much.
I do drink the occasional Shiner Bock, a dark Texas beer.

I'm working on a paper for an academic beverage industry journal on the state of the craft brewing industry in the United States. Our country has come a long way in the last 25 years or so in terms of beer. The market is still dominated by the mass market weak, flavorless beers like Coors and Miller, but craft beers have grown dramatically, accounting now for over $22 billion in sales last year.

It's great to see so many Americans now understand that "beer" alone is not an adequate descriptor for wit, IPAs, Pilseners, porters, and stouts.

Even though I live in a fairly rural spot there are three microbreweries in my area making some really fine beers. In particular, Big Muddy Brewing makes a first rate amber ale.

My favorite American craft brewer, though, is Bayou Teche Brewing of Arnaudville, Louisiana. Their pale ale is outstanding, and they also make a biere de garde and a stout that are both fantastic. If you're ever in South Louisiana their tap room is a "must visit," especially on Saturday afternoons when they have live music and Cajun food.

Australian Wootonga sweet sherry with raw herring and onions a pickled mustard sauce.
If you are going to drink you need a challenge. That was the worst combination by the way.
What was your worst drink combination?

Have you been to the Bull and Bladder real name is The Vine, THE Bathams pub on the Delph in Brierley Hill Gurj, a real blast from the past, the old lady that runs it must be in her late 80's, pulling a pint with a fag in the corner of her mouth, when someone mentioned health and safety hygiene, she said f**k um and f**k you, if ya dow like it, yo know where the door is, proper Black Country boozer. If not the Delph run is a good day out , 7 real ale pubs all on the Delph Rd, as good a pub crawl there is.

Best pint of Landlord I ever had was in The Falcon in Arncliffe in the Dales, straight from the barrel in to a iron jug and poured into the glass, wonderful stuff.
