Modern cars

Post by rich_leeds64 »

Now that the days are shortening I've noticed more and more newer cars without lights on. This is because they all have running lights which come on automatically and stay on until you switch off the engine, but these are only on the front and are not headlights. Obviously some drivers don't know their cars which makes them really difficult to see on these dark, murky mornings

I always have my headlights on Leon. To be seen is the aim and it makes such a difference at dawn or dusk, or inclement weather of any type.

I've noticed, particularly over here, an increasing use of fog lights WITH headlights, which defeats the object of the fog lights. If it's not foggy, the fog lights are useless and if it is foggy, the headlights are useless, making glare where the fog lights (together with a much slower speed) would give a clearer light.

We have the same eejits over here Norm. We also get the people that put their rear fog light on, forget to turn them off when the adverse weather has cleared, driving around for days blinding people unwittingly.

Keyless modern cars have resulted in a big 'problem' for a mate of mine. Even before with cars not being locked with a key, he was always paranoid about whether he'd locked the car or not. And nowadays its even worse as the little gadget that is used to send a signal to the car that the engine can be started, also unlocks the car when you approach it. So he can never go back and check if he's locked it :)
