True, but playing like we did in the second half was easy. We had nothing to lose, no risk. Losing 3-1 or losing 8-1 with five break-away goals makes no difference. So there was nothing to think about.

Still I'm glad we fought back for a point at least and gave the massive crowd some pleasure.

I agree. We bottled it and Wendies and Fulham didn't. We certainly got what we deserved, hope the players are proud of themselves.

Wendies and Huddersfield supporters will be laughing their heads off at knocking us out of the playoffs....Leeds United the laughing stock of Yorkshire....again

An old cliche in football is you make your own luck. We are out of the top six and weren't in the form to reach the premier league so as dezzy says this summer rebuilding and maybe Lady Luck will bring us a greater and higher finish . It is worth remembering we were at short odds to make the dreaded drop this season.

12 months - think where we were 12 months ago, should Evans come back, blah blah!

Don't forget Monk has to learn too. I think Leon said it, we've been sussed out - that needs to change.

This year was out of the blue - no warning - Bam, on the edge of our seats.

With proper ownership and management we can do it this next year.

Any one of us would accept a play off next year of course we would. But why? There are no certainty though we know at this stage ... this is a tough league so surely Monk gets to do and finish the work . We should and have to get in amongst it next season and maybe a early run of results can be the spur that this club and passionate fans deserve. MOT.

They didn't knock us out - we did! Stiff upper lip dear - don't watch the knuckle-draggers..
Start cheering for Fulham or Reading - then Uddersfelt and Wendies can cry in their beer.

Can't separate these sides Norm . A real close one but momentum is obviously with Londoners and they have played Leeds of the pitch this season so they will be not far off . Huddersfield are there to be beaten but personally the other two are not good enough.

I can happily ignore the rest of the season...I have no interest how other teams do or the FA cup.

I wish I could

A meaningless final game of the season at Wigan which will probably be similar to the 0-0 bore draw at Preston last season :|

Well who saw that coming? Glad I made the
trip up from Cardiff as entertaining game
but our defence was woeful... and why
didn't Taylor start? Much better going forward, and as it turned out Berardi had
a shocker.

Gotta say, I don't get the doom and gloom from some on here. We have finished 7th in a much improved campaign where the bookies had us at short odds for the drop. Some of us could see from even before Xmas that we weren't good enough and were punching above our weight, whilst others, it seems, got totally carried away. It IS a bitter pill that the wendies and dog botherers are there, but they always had more chance than we did. With the right moves in the summer, we'll be in the mix next season. Damp squib end to what has been an exciting season, granted, but no need for sack cloth and ashes

Yes Gaetano has had a couple of shockers of late, shame as he has been one of our most consistent performers in a Leeds shirt

Glad you had a good day mate

Because, for whatever reason, (and I'm not buying the January excuse) we simply fell apart and blew a comfortable lead over the teams below us. I get that as Leeds fans the next season will always be better but we get 3 more teams down whom will all have copious amounts of money to spend. At least 2 very strong PO teams with a lot of money, Norwich are still here and I expect Villa to throw a lot of money at promotion too...There look to be a minimum of 10-12 team who are financially better than us and I don't see an easy path back to the playoffs. We over achieved this season, teams that do that seldom repeat.

Natural right back, just been re-switched back to left back where he's not a natural. Beradi is better than Ayling but Monk likes Ayling (who actually created little over these final games it seems)

There is a part of me that wants to remain in the Championship though, it's an cracking league football wise, it's an honest league and I'm not sure I'll like what we'll become in the Prem...It's a small part but there non the less.

Yes, we over achieved, but the basis is there to build on that and be genuine contenders as opposed to pretenders. I don't get the argument that we can't progress from what's been achieved this season, no reason it has to be a one-off. And this league is tough every season, next season will be no better or worse, imo. Some ambition is needed, sensible investment to allow Monk to take us to the next level.

I know a lot of views on here are that we over achieved but for me, whether we did or not, we let a 7 point gap between us and 7th place slip away in the last few weeks. Why? Why couldn't we focus, knuckle down and get through thone last few matches. It's already been said on here that the championship will just get harder and harder. This was a real proper chance....and the players blew it. Over achieved or not.

Reasons why we blew it

1) Didn't strengthen in the areas required in January
2) Played the new signings who were no better/productive than what we had already in the squad
3) Players suffered fatigue due to the slim squad especially Wood & Jansson who played with slight knocks after travelling around the world on international duties
4) Many of our players are incapable of putting two passes together, retention of the ball is key to relieving pressure off the defence
5) Monk was far too cautious in so many games
6) Managers had sussed our game out
7) In the end we were simply not good enough
