A classic jazz album MJ

Been revisiting Placebo. Not managed to get going on the Hold Steady yet. Had a quick dip, but it sounds like something I need to be in the mood for (as with most music). Otherwise been listening to:

Flux - Uncarved Block
Pixies - Surfer Rosa
John Martyn - One World
The Cure - 17 Seconds
Virgin Prunes - If I Die, I Die

A eclectic mix there Sara

Only one I don't know is the Flux album

[Muppet the Cat]

Currently listening to 'Rainbow Live in Munich 1977', which contains one of my favourite ever tracks - this version of Catch The Rainbow (side 1, track 4).

Ritchie at the absolute top of his game...……………………..fantastic !!

John Coltrane. A love Supreme

Invasion of the highest quality.

Trane all day and . everyday.

Change of mood today

Stone Temple Pilots
Core, Purple and Tiny Music Songs From The Vatican

[1964white]

I suppose John Martyn would be the odd one out, the others all being post-punk by influence or association.

Don't tell me you're a Virgin Prunes fan though, that would be a turn up! I've hardly met another soul who's even heard of them. I still love their tribal/ avant garde stuff, and seeing them in the Electric Ballroom early 80s was one to remember.

Have several John Martyn albums, Solid Air' is classic album of course. One World is excellent too !

Apologies Sara I confused myself as it was the Electric Prunes I was thinking about. Pretty sure I've listened to the Virgin Prunes in the past. Have they got a gothic sound ?

[Muppet the Cat]

Couple of completely random CD purchases today
Julian Cope - Black Sheep (2008 double); and
Billy Bragg & Wilco - Mermaid Avenue

Never heard them and could be rubbish, but only 20p each and both like new.

[1964white]

Listening to two 70's compilations I picked up for 50p each

Worth the quid i paid for the songs listed below by artists music I don't have in my collection

Congregation 'Softly Whispering I Love You'
Bobby Goldsboro 'Summer (The First Time)'

McGuinness Flint 'When I'm Dead And Gone'
Racey 'Some Girls'
Andy Kim 'Rock Me Gently'..........sounds so much like Neil Diamond
Real Thing 'Can't Get By Without You'

[1964white]

Also on the car playlist

Beautiful South 'Blue Is The Colour' - (purchased in a 3 for £1 deal)

Siouxsie & the Banshees 'Peepshow' (not their best but a couple of goodies on there)

[1964white]

Oh & after hearing the two Don McLean songs on the compilations I had to dig out the CD:
Very Best of Don McLean

Love 'Vincent' 'Castles in The Air' & 'American Pie'

[Muppet the Cat]

Congregation 'Softly Whispering I Love You'

A great track 64

Do you press skip for Side 2 Track 4 ???

I certainly do Cat

I also picked up 2 CD's yesterday 64, but beat you as 50p each, but BOGOF so 50p for both.

Firstly, Dead Kennedys - Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables (Special 25th Anniversary Edition CD-DVD), and....

Secondly, Various - Cooking Vinyl Sampler Vol.7 (1998) - which must be worth 25p if for nothing else than the wonderfully titled 'The Undertaker and the Hippy Protest Singer' by Carter USM. Most of the others on there I've never heard of though...………..they could be rubbish

Nice one I haven't got Fresh Fruit....on my shelves. I use to enjoy artists on the Cooking Vinyl label so could be some other decent songs on there Cat
